Testimonials:

Sandy J., New Hope, OH

Great teacher. I found making my own bow in Tom's class easier than I thought it would be! Taking a little wood off at a time was great. Thank you Tom for "fitting" me with a bow that accommodates my arm disability.

Adam W., Sunbury, OH

Excellent class with good amount of 1 on 1 help.

Very helpful learning the tillering process

(the removal if wood in specific areas at specific times) until the stave is ready to accept a bowstring. I look forward to taking another class with Tom. (See you on August 3-5 to build a Reflex/Deflex bow!)

Jason W., Westfield, IN

Great class! I learned a lot.

Jon J., Fletcher, OH

This was my 2nd class with Tom.

He gives significant information about bow making skills and the entire process. Tom makes individual time for each student to answer questions, demonstrate techniques for students and tells interesting stories of his experiences. I highly encourage anyone wanting to make their own bow(s) to take Tom's class first! His knowledge and experience WILL save you time, energy and money. Tom shares loads of detailed information on every step of the process that you just can not get from watching YouTube videos.

John M., Gahanna, OH

Thank you Tom (and your attending students) to allow me to have an enriching educational opportunity and for the comradery.   The instruction is always exceptional and is peppered by anecdotes that are entertaining but reinforce safety.  Its’s a 2 ½ day vacation as one is immersed in crafting a strong  functional tool that is also a piece of fine art.  Day-to-day cares and responsibilities are left at the threshold of the workshop; once the workshop begins, stresses of your  world are gone and relaxation ensues.  Thank you again Tom for the opportunity of experiencing the workshop.

Jim P., N. Lewisburg, OH

This is my 3rd class with Tom and all 3 have been worth every penny!

With each class I learn more about the fine tuning of the bow. For example, when removing wood, the subtle effects it has on the flexibility of the stave. With each small amount of wood removed from the stave, the reaction is very noticible-when you learn what to feel for! It really is a learned process of "feel". Once again I want to thank Tom for another awesome class- I highly recommend them.

Eli J., Fletcher, OH

Great class with great results!

I entered Tom's class without ANY woodworking or bow making knowledge. The class was fun and very educational. I was confident in Tom's ability from the very start through to the finish and ended up walking away from the class with a functional bow that I can be proud of.

Larry K., Meridian, Idaho

Great hands on class with LOTS of 1 on 1 instruction.

My bow shoots well. I plan to take it out (3-D shoots, hunting, etc.) as soon as the finish dries!

Thank you for your time in teaching bow building and the work you have been doing with us veterans. David L., San Antonio, TX What a great course! Tom is a wealth of information explaining where and WHEN wood is to be removed in order to make a stave into a phenominal BOW! While teaching his skills, he makes the class interesting, humorous and informative. Although I am an inexperienced archer he made me a better one in 2 days with is tips and techniques. I am planning on taking his advanced class in the future. Brad W., San Antonio, TX Great class Tom. It was fun and informative. I will definitely be recommending your classes. Glen O., San Antonio, TX Excellent class. Tom is a passionate teacher and it comes accross in his instruction. It would be cool to see other students' finished bows at the time of the class. Andy B., Camarillo, CA Hands down the best class I have ever taken at Woodcraft! Tom was well organized, well timed and had a great attitude. A fantastic weekend and time well spent. Henry D., Ventura, CA (15 yrs old) Very exciting class! I thoroughly enjoyed every step. Being able to build and shoot my own fully functioning bow brings a level if excitement I had never felt before. I am very thankful for this opportunity. David S., Ventura, CA Well worth the time and tuition! Tom helped everyone by showing us what attention to detail will produce in the end. It was fun at each and every step of the process. GREAT STORIES along the way as well. Keep up your great classes and I'll see you at the next one! MICHAEL B., Santa Barbara, CA Loved this class!!! Not only was Tom amazingly informative, personable and helpful, he also taught us much more than bow making. He taught us how to better understand how to use the natural tension and other characteristics in the wood to our advantage. I will apply what I've learned this weekend to all of my future wood working projects. The best part of all was that his class was FUN! Brian F., Fillmore, CA Great class and pace. The end product is awesome! John F., Winnetku, CA (Woodworking instructor) I enjoyed Tom's class very much, learning new skills to teach and try to remember! Mike P., Ventura, CA Thanks for taking the time to save my bowfrom that small worm hole! I will be so proud to be able to say I made my own wooden bow while my friends with their compound bows are drooling over it! It was great to have you here to teach. Now I have to practice what I've learned so I won't lose it. Thanks Tom Brian P., Ventura, CA Great class, very knowledgeable, enjoyed it a lot!Charlie G., Absarokee, MT Great class, excellent instruction. Tom is a very personable person and a good instructor. The bow I made in class is powerful enough for hunting any game animal! Cheyanne P., 13, Lewisberg, OH I loved this class! Tom is a wonderful teacher with a good sense of humor. All of his instructions were very clear and easy to follow. All of the (students') bows turned out great. He also explained why each step is necessary and what could happen if you don't follow the steps. He teaches hand tool techniques, matching arrows to your bow and all the different types of arrow heads. Jim P., Lewisberg, OH This is my 2nd time taking Tom's bow building class- this time with my daughter! He was a great help with helping me finish a stave I had purchased in his pre-laminated kits. Even though my daughter Cheyanne took over my R/D stave/bow, I had a wonderful time watching her build her 1st bow! Pete G., Columbus, OH This was my 2nd time taking Tom's class. It was just as awesome as the 1st class! Being able to make a functional bow out of a stave in 1-1/2 days is GREAT! Rod G., Lancaster, OH This was my 2nd time taking Tom's class. I took his Traditional bow building class back in April and I was hooked! In my 2nd class I built the advanced reflex/deflex long bow. My R/D bow has no hand shock whatsoever. It is even smoother than my first bow and I can really feel its power. Very nice bow. Jon J., Fletcher, OH I am brand new to archery. As a matter of fact, I have NEVER EVEN SHOT A BOW BEFORE! I can't recommend Tom's class more highly. Each step of the bow building process was clearly reviewed with each student and individual help was always available. Interesting stories and more information about bow making and its technical aspects were presented than I could absorb! I will definitely attend Tom's Advanced Reflex/Reflex class (March 16-18, 2018) and bring along my sons- not only to make my 2nd bow but also to build life long memories! Robin S., Mills River, NC Tom makes clear WHYwe need to perform each task as well as HOW. I am very pleased with his class.David B., Anderson, SC Tom is one of the best instructors I have ever had! I have taken many classes for professional and personal reasons including welding, blacksmithing, metal shaping, etc. for professional and personal reasons. Tom's teaching style, knowledge and attention to detail is very refreshing.Bob C., Murphy, NC I learned so much in Tom's class- From learning the bowyer language & terminology to building and shooting a new long bow. I am a complete novice when it comes to bow building and other than shooting when I was a kid have limited experience in shooting a bow. Thanks Tom! Mike G., Jupiter, FL Good class. I enjoyed learning about long bow building and finishing. My completed bow shot smoothly and accurately. Would like to learn more about primitive bow building techniques. Jeff J., Albuquerque, NM Good way to spend a week's vacation! Time permittng I would like to have been able to laminate the stave, rough it out on the bandsaw, etc.. After using the dyes, (for the first time), I learned it was easier to darken a light color than to lighten a dark color. The colors also darken as they dry. Emphasize the importance of staying away from the glue line when beveling the bamoo backing. Mike R., Houston, TX / Meridian, Idaho I could not believe that 2-1/2 days ago I could actually BUILD MY OWN BOW! Tom is a great teacher. He really knows how to explain what needs to be done and how to accomplish the task in the most efficient manner. Best of all, my bow LOOKs and SHOOTS great! Gary E., Libby, MT I drove 10 hours to attend Tom's bow building class in Boise, Idaho and am SO glad I did! I plan to give the bow I made to my son. He might hunt with it or hang it on the wall for the memory. It was a great class- the only problem being that now I have ANOTHER hobby! Rodney G., Lancaster, OH Bucket list #32.... Make my own long bow.... CHECK! Great class, super instructor. Just right on with the pace of the class. Super product. John M., Gohanna, OH This was my 2nd opportunity to attend Tom's class, the first time being in Tionesta, PA. To be able to take a class from a renowned, world class master bowyer such as Tom Turgeon is a privilege that can not be overstated. How could anyone interested in the use of a bow- be it function and/or art- pass on experiencing such an opportunity. Any person taking his (long bow building) workshop will have an exceptional and practical bow that is not only heirloom quality in regard to function, but is also a fine and beautiful piece of art. Two class opportunities with Tom is not enough; THIS STUDENT is coming back for a 3rd.... And more! Pete G., Columbus, OH Tom's (long bow building) class was awesome! It is an amazing amount of work packed into one weekend. I recommend his class to anyone who has an interest in woodworking OR archery! My kids are excited to see my bow too! Newcastle, WY I learned a LOT from Tom in his longbow building class and thoroughly enjoyed it too. Thanks Tom  for making this class possible on the USA Labor Day Weekend. It was well worth traveling all the way from Australia to meet you and attend your workshop.
Not only was your class a LOT of  fun, the way you presented the information was first class.

Joe S., Spokane, WA
This was my second bowbuilding class with Tom. And for the second time he delivered great results!
Not only is he an excellent bow maker he is also an excellent teacher. His combined skills make his class fun and understandable.

Kyle K., Boerne, TX
Great class, teacher and times!

Leonard "L.G." G., Boerne, TX
What a great experience and time with great people!
Tom's bow building class and process was easier than I had expected; just simple hand tools were used to build a work of art. Our bows shot so smoothly and quietly. I really liked how the instruction was so specific in detail- Tom explained the "how's and why's" of each step.

Joe V., Mexico
This was a very good class! I believe it saved me 10 years (of trial & error).

Mady M., Waterloo, NY
One of the greatest experiences I have had in a long time.
I can't wait to shoot my new bow at home and show it off. Tom is a very good instructor. Thank you for making the time to talk with me (on non-bow building topics). I really enjoyed the past two days and wish I could do it all over again! I love building things with my own hands and would not change your class at all.

Courtney P., Waterloo, NY
I LOVED the class and the teacher!
Tom was very nice and helped with any questions we had. I really appreciated his demonstrations and laughs. I highly recommend his class to others as it was a very good learning experience.

Until we meet again, your friend, John

Kevin M., Waterloo, NY

A wonderful week of learning! I can't wait to get back home and shoot my new bow again.
Tom was very helpful throughout the entire bow building process. I learned a lot of new information about archery, shooting and woodworking. I even plan on making another bow! Attending and completing Tom's class was a great experience. Thanks Tom!

Steve J., Chicago, IL
I've been coming to the John C. Campbell Folk School for 12 years (12 classes) and Tom's Long Bow Class has been my favorite!
Tom is a very personable instructor.
He demonstrates every step for every student before you go off to work on your stave. He is ALWAYS open to repeat a demo or repeat his instructions and welcomes every student's questions. It was a great experience to make a bow tailered especially for me.

Tim G., Indian Lake, NY
Tom's class was excellent- one of the best I have taken at the John C. Campbell Folk School.
I was mainly interested in the woodworking aspects of the class; to learn how to make wood bend. The fact that I walked away with a fully functional long bow is a pure bonus! Thanks Tom.

Dennis L., Sarasota, FL
I enjoyed the bow building process from start to finish.
Tom's expertise and understanding were greatly appreciated. His willingness to go the extra mile and get my non-leather items to finish out my bow were especially appreciated. I loved the way he peppered in his personal stories and analogies to help us understand the "why's" of what we were learning. His helpful insights and awareness of what I needed helped me to obtain an optimal project. Tom's experience and guidence are only two factors that encourage me to recommend his class to anyone.... unconditionally. Thank you for a stellar class- it was time well invested.

Martin S., Cary, NC
Amazing amount of information!
From a complete novice to building my own custom long bow in a few days.... I can't wait to build another one!

Benji H., Bellevue, Idaho
I loved taking Tom's Traditional Bow Building class a few years ago.
Since then I looked forward to building a R/D bow in his Advanced Bow Building Class. Being the 2nd time through his course,
I was able to absorb more knowledge and hone bow making skills I'd been working on.
I have a great new bow, much more confidence in my bow building and had a great weekend! I highly recommend the R/D class
to anyone looking to take their bow making/woodworking skills to the next level.

Marshall B., Lewiston, Idaho
I have a $900 Carbon bow. The bow I made in Tom's class is quieter and
smoother with no stacking whatsoever.
Tom's step-by-step instruction brought it all together. I was impressed with how well and how smoothly my new bow shot! I can
not wait to put it to use in a hunting situation. Great class.

Mac C., Boise, Idaho
Tom's class was detailed and informative.
He teaches in a "just jump in, take your time and get your hands dirty" style. He maintains
the tempo of the class and guides his students to a successful finish.

Mike L., San Ramon, CA (via Square Feedback)
“I bought a bow for my g-son for a Christmas present. I wanted a wood project we could work on together but knew nothing about selecting a bow kit. Tom spent 20-30 minutes guiding me to a solution and making me feel comfortable with the process. Between Jack(G-son), Bryce(son) and myself we're looking forward to the experience. Thanks, Mike

Andrew H., Moorpark, CA
This class was a lot of fun!

Art L., Chalfant Valley, CA
Great class, friendly atmosphere and knowledgable instructor.

Paul W., Ventura, CA
I thought Tom's class was AWESOME!
I learned how to build and shoot a bow. Now that I am "one" with it, I will use it!

Eric M., (14 years old), Carlsbad, CA
Tom's class was very fun and at the same time it was very hard work.
The hard work was definitly worth it!

Michael V., Crested Butte, CO
I can now build a bow!
Even with many years' experience as a professional woodworker, I learned so much more than I had expected. I am looking forward to hitting the hills with the boys and hunting elk with my new bow.

Ellen L., Austin, TX
This was my second bow making class with Tom!
I learn so much each time I take his class and am so happy with both of my bows that I plan to take another class with him!
If there is a list for his 2016 class, put me on it!

Darrell T., Grand Salino, TX
I would recommend Tom's class to anyone interested in bow making- beginner OR advanced.
Tom is a good teacher and is very respectful to each student.

My new R/D bow shoots great, better than any other I have owned.  I applied a grip and shelf and started shooting this afternoon.
With past bows I shot off of a cut-in shelf- usually with a leather plate applied. In past years I have consistently shot to the left of center, often missing the whole target! I had to hang burlap sacks behind the target from its center to about 4 feet to the left to keep up with my arrows. But no more! Today, that didn’t happen. I was able to hit the target where I wanted to- generally around the center. I think the bow is better tuned to my arrows than any before. Pretty good for a guy with only one good eye, and the other which can only make out the E on the chart.  Corrective surgery later this year should also help a lot.
The class was great.  My wife thought the wilderness class sounded like the most fun, so I may get to try that one in the near future.

Barry G., Austin, TX
Excellent class, outstanding instruction, wonderful materials!
Tom was understanding, informative and patient- not only helping us with our bow making skills but also by giving us pointers on shooting.
He helped to "untrain" some of the bad habits I had developed prior to his class. I can't wait for further education!

Don A., Wimberley, TX
Enjoyed the class. I came out with a bow that I feel very good about. I'm looking forward to taking what I have learned and build
myself another bow in my shop!

Marquis G., Austin, TX
Very enjoyable class Excellent instruction and a lot of fun.
I learned even more the second time around in the Advanced R/D Class.

1st LT. Tate l. US Army, Warrior Family Support Center, Ft Sam, San Antonio, TX
Dispite my pace due to my injuries, Tom was very accommodating and patient throughout the bow making process.
My wife helped at times and even my 3 year old daughter visited! Thank you for taking the time to work with us recovering soldiers at the WFSC.

SGT Zach W., US Army, Warrior Family Support Center, Ft Sam, San Antonio, TX
Amazing Class! Very instructional and a good pace. No changes needed! Thank you.

SGT Alex G., US Army, Warrior Family Support Center, Ft Sam, San Antonio, TX

CPT Brian K., US Army, Warrior Family Support Center, Ft Sam, San Antonio, TX
It, (Tom's bowmaking class) was very enjoyable. 5-6 students is a great number of students to allow for 1 on 1 teaching. I look forward to using /shooting my bow for the first time!

This was the most relaxing class/time I have ever had here at the WFSC.

laughs and good times! The entire experience was great!

Well run class. I always felt welcome to ask questions.

Jim S., Circleville, OH
I really enjoyed Tom's class.
All aspects were well taught and the pace was good. The only thing I would add- I wish there was more time to shoot our bows!

Andy S., Saltsburg, PA
I loved Tom's class.

I was especially interested in the way he taught the skills needed to make these wonderful bows. I am
looking forward to sharing the process with my own students. Thank you for being so patient and generous with
us. This is a wonderful class- our bows giving all of us a sense of pride and accomplishment.

Tom is a wealth of knowledge and he willingly shares his expertise.

He has a down-to-earth teaching style that connects well with everyone. It was a great experience.

Tom made sure everyone walked away with a great bow.... and even better memories.

Steve S., Westerville, OH
One of the best classes I have ever taken- on ANY subject!
Tom's energy and enthusiasm coupled with his love of archery increased my ability to learn.
What a thrill to shoot arrows from a bow I made with Tom. Everyone should take his class!

Dan D., Columbus, OH
Tom "Takes the Mystery Out of Long Bow Building"!

He gives you the knowledge of an "almost lost" skill set that you can take with you as a foundation to
build upon. The result is VERY satisfying and inspiring to experience. I can't wait to use my new bow
and show my friends and family as well. I'm excited to build them bows as gifts to bring them years of satisfaction!

Robert S., Pickerington, OH
The steps to make a long bow were explained and demonstrated extremely well.

There were 6 (students) in the class- everyone came out with a great bow and had a fun time. Definitely
going to take the second (Advanced Reflex/Deflex) class.

Jordan M., Heath, OH
I had never done ANY woodworking before- a total beginner.
I learned a lot about wood and hand tools in Tom's class. Now I have new skills and have broken into woodworking!

Randy C., Pickerington, OH
Great class and teacher.
Could not have been better!

Eric P., Liverpool, NY
In a word, Tom's class was AWESOME!....
And that's coming from a guy who had built 2 dozen bows on my own BEFORE taking Tom's class!
I learned so much I can not believe it.
Definitely worth the time, tuition and effort to be able to walk out of class with such a GREAT BOW!

David R., Liverpool, NY (Technology Education Teacher)
Thank you for the inspiring education!

Building a long bow in Tom's class with hand tools was extremely fulfilling. I will pass the
newly learned techniques on to my own students.
Tom gets right to the "point" and is a "straight-shooter".

It may seem as though he is "stringing" you along but soon enough you'll get a "grip" on his process.
The best part of all may come when you are watching your dyes and topcoat "finish" dry in his Finishing Class knowing you'll be
ruffling some people's "feathers" when they see what you have built with your own two hands. ;)

Ron H., Leemar, TX
Because of Tom's class and his instruction,
I feel confident I can make bows on my own that will be excellent hunting weight bows.
I enjoyed his class very much.

James C. San Antonio, TX
I've been looking forward to this class for a while and I was not
disappointed. It was an excellent, worthwhile experience.
I would like to see an option for the arrow making and/or bow string
class.... maybe for Sunday afternoon?
Thank you for a great weekend.

Joe B., Copperas Cove, TX
Very good (Traditional Limb) long bow class.
I would prefer you just teaching the advance (R/D) class students
separatly and charging more. Thanks.

PFC Jose V., US Army, Warrior Family Support Center, Ft Sam, San Antonio, TX
We all made beautiful bows in Tom's class.
It was really relaxing and helped me a lot with my PTSD and anxiety. I really enjoyed making my bow and look forward to
making more in the future. I want to thank you for your individual help with me and your support for
our troops.

SGFC Gil F., US Army, Warrior Family Support Center, Ft Sam, San Antonio, TX
Extremely therapeudic class!
I feel really fortunate to have participated in this very popular class. Tom takes the time to explain everythin clearly.

Such an awesome class!

CPT Michael A., US Army, Warrior Family Support Center, Ft Sam, San Antonio, TX
Great therapy! Great FUN!
I was able to focus when most times I can not due to my injuries. Thank you for coming to the WFSC and Ft. Sam.

PFC Charles Q., US Army, Warrior Family Support Center, Ft Sam, San Antonio, TX
Great class with clear instruction.
Great guy! I will definately recommend this class. Thank you, Tom.... safe travels.

Chris W., Ft. Worth, TX
Tom Turgeon's knowledge of wood is exceptional, his class very informative.
He does a fantastic job of demonstrating the science behind a traditional bow without convaluting the process. The long bows my classmates and I made are "Beasts" in disguise! The raw power they have is completely unexpected.
Tom's ability to know where to remove wood and how much wood to remove on a stave/bow is impressive. He is able to "fit" the bow to each student/client. Everyone in our class required different fittings for individual reasons and Tom managed the process with ease.

Thank you Tom- I have a new hobby!

Jeremy B., Little Elm, TX
Thank you for all of the info!

Rene'e, TX
Although I originally enrolled my husband as an anniversary gift, I just had to join him!
I enjoyed each phase in the process and can't wait to go out again and shoot targets with MY NEW BOW!
Thank you for an excellent class.

Eric D., Lantane, TX
Years and years ago, my grandfather learned how to make bows from Choctaw men.
He taught me and I built bows as a teenager for my brothers and myself. 50 years later in Tom's class
I have built another bow.... a REAL bow!

Learning proven techniques from a Master Bowyer has encouraged me to make more bows on my own. The entire class experience
was a ton of fun and very relaxed. When someone asks me how to make a long bow, a GOOD BOW, I'll tell them to
contact Tom Turgeon, Master Bowyer and he will teach you!

Marquis G., Caldwell, TX

I really enjoyed Tom's class and am interested in learning much more.

His instruction was well designed, thought out and organized. He also did a nice job of answering all of our (8 students) questions.

Our bows' deign and performance was very impressive especially when they were made by beginners!

Bryan P., Sachse, TX
Tom was a very patient instructor- even through my blunders!
His class makes me want to learn more about stave lamination, constructing arrows, twisting Flemish bow strings, building a R/D bow and making my own quiver!

Kevin G., Ashburn, VA
What can I say about Tom and his class that has not been said in hundreds of testimonials before and (likely) after this?

Tom creates a comfortable atmosphere for all skill levels, from my city boy amateur, to a gentleman in his 70s who has more experience and talent in his hands than I will ever wield.

I went to the Folk School in Brasstown, NC to spend a week with my folks. Tom and my classmates (Jerry, Larry and the lady who was a true craftswoman and could have been our teacher, Rachel) made the class interweaved with family time better than I could have ever intended.

If you did not think you can do it, or you know more than you should; Tom helps you craft a bow, teach you proper techniques, correct your mistakes and make you laugh uncomfortably loud while trying not to inhale your sand dust or file shavings. He also will make you want to travel, or move to Boise with his photographs and passionate stories. I'm at least considering a stave building workshop in the coming years.

For the past 2 weeks after class ended I've lobbed "golf" shots in the floodplains behind my home and went target practicing once with my friends. I'm forming a small callus on my index finger (Free advice: invest in an arrow rest if you're a hand model, only $4.99 here!) and hope to shoot bi-weekly when I'm home with my custom, made-by-me bow.

I had not shot a bow and arrow since boy scouts, and now could not be happier to have broken that trend after my workshop.

Thank You, Kevin G.

Larry G., Oakhurst, TX
Tom's Bow Building Class was a fantastic experience!

Having been a compound bow hunter for many years, I did not know what to expect. This class has given me a new perspective on the physics behind the mechanics of bows and arrows.
The combination of Tom's humor and expertise along with the make-up of the students in his class has made this a very informative and FUN CLASS.
I highly recommend this class to all perspective bowyers and archers alike.

Jerry L., Livermore, CO
Thank you for a great week!
I enjoyed Tom's class very much. He is an excellent instructor with exceptional classroom technique. Every question the students asked were answered in an easy-to-understand manner. A very well planned out course that I would like to take again.

Rachel W., Roswell, GA
This (Long Bow Class) was wonderful!
Who would have thought my first bow would turn out so well- or that I'd hit the target?!

Kevin G., Ashburn, VA (via email)
.... crickets.... ;)

Will H., Ketchum, Idaho
I took this class for my Senior Project.
I was lucky enough to be able to work one-on-one with Tom. One thing I did not know coming into his bow building class is that the stave would already be laminated. This ended up being a huge time saver and it allowed me to spend more time learning the tillering process- creating a better bow in the end!
I was very happy with the class and how Tom taught bow building. I would definitly recommend taking his class to people of ANY age!
I am very satisfied with my finished bow and would not hesitate to attend another class.

Jeff  S., Las Vegas, NV
A Very rewarding workshop!
Being able to make a customized bow and learn from a Master Bowyer is a fantastic experience.
Well worth the time, effort, and tuition. I am looking forward to taking additional workshops with Tom.

Chris W., Powell, OH
This class was great!
I have never even shot a bow before much less BUILD one! Tom made the class fun and easy and my bow turned our awesome. I can't wait for him to teach me his Advanced R/D bow building class in August!

Dan D., Powell, OH
Lost knowledge rediscovered!
Tom shares knowledge (that in my opinion everyone should know) mixes it with updated materials and designs
and teaches his process to a new generation of bow builders. His class is VERY hands-on although he is there for you
every step of the way. Not only does he show you how to make adjustments he explains why you are making those adjustments....
this is priceless in creating a really nice bow.
In the end you know how to build, string, shoot and finish a custom bow. Very satisfying and rewarding weekend.

Zach T., London, OH
This was my first time at attempting to build a bow.
The help Tom gives you is fantastic. Happy to have met you and all of the students. Thanks much, Zach

Tim K., Columbus, OH
Very iformative class- I'm glad I was part of it!
I will try to make the Advanced R/D class in Augest. Tom has a very easy going manner and is easy to approach for help.
The finished product is very impressive. The arrows flew quickly and true!

Alan L., Galloway, OH
I learned a lot more valuable deatailed informationby enrolling in Tom's Advanced R/D class.
As in his first class (Traditional Long Bow) I enjoyed how much fun and creative the class can be! The 2 1/2 day class
goes very, VERY quickly! Thanks alot Tom.

Quinn T., Delaware, OH (15 yrs old)
I thought Tom's (Advanced) class was good.... except for the roofing (construction)on the shop's roof that was goind on! :)

Bryan S., Worthington, PA (MSGT Retired, USAF)
This is my second class with Tomand it was even more fun than the first! In the first (Traditional) class I picked up a lot of
new information. In the second (Reflex/Deflex) class I discovered the small details and nuances of my newly learned techniques.
The best part of the advanced R/D class is that you know the steps and where you are goingso you can concentrate more on your
woodworking skills and techniques. A second chance to "play" with the dyes in Tom's Finishing Class was awesome!

Mike C., Tionesta, PA
I can't wait till next time!

Alex S., Virginia
Great Job!
I learned a lot from Tom's class. I never thought that I could make a bow like this. I will be back again. Thank you.

Justin M., Sigel, PA (15 yrs old)
This was a great class! I learned a lot abot tools and wood and made a bow of my own in just two days.

Brianna R., Caldwell, Idaho
I am a stay-at-home mom of 4 and wanted to try something out of the ordinary.
Tom was very patient, friendly and easy to work with. You don't have to be a
hunting "man" to try your hand at bow making. It was SUPER fun and I would absolutely
recommend taking this class with Tom. Its SO worth the money and time.
There is no feeling like shooting your first arrows off of a bow that you made with
your own hands.... TAKE THE CLASS!!!

CW3 Daniel C., US Army, Warrior Family Support Center, Ft Sam, San Antonio, TX
Tom's bow making class experience was amazing!
The feeling of completing such a project from start to finish gave me a feeling of complete satisfaction. This is a HIGHLY desired class at the WFSC and in Texas and I am very grateful to have been a part of it. I'm looking forward to taking my bow out (hunting) and harvesting some animals.
A very special thanks to Tom for getting me hooked on the craft of bow making- a craft I will pass on to my kids.

CPT Victor M. D., US Army, Warrior Family Support Center, Ft Sam, San Antonio, TX
I would like to express that Tom is an excellent instructor and it shows that he is truly a master of his trade. It is an honor* to make a bow under his supervision.
* The "honor" is mine, CPT.
I am free to work with the men and women who served our country in order that folks like me can do what we do in a FREE country.
The true honor goes to all of those who serve, have served and the sacrifices they and their families have made- to protect the USA.

SSG Tiffany "Rod" R., US Army, Warrior Family Support Center, Ft Sam, San Antonio, TX
Tom's bow building class was very fun. I can't wait to shoot my new bow!

SSG Sterling K., US Army, Warrior Family Support Center, Ft Sam, San Antonio, TX
Tom gave outstanding instructions and was very supportive and courteous.
The bow I built turned out great. I would attend his class again if given the opportunity.

A special "Thank You" goes out to SSG Sterling K.'s father who served our country- 3 tours in Viet Nam.

SPC Nicholas T. S., US Army, Warrior Family Support Center, Ft Sam, San Antonio, TX
This was a FUN class that added a new sense of accomplishment and satisfaction.
In addition to making a bow, I also learned a lot about archery in general which added to my ongoing archery education.

PVT Lin P., US Army, Warrior Family Support Center, Ft Sam, San Antonio, TX
Of all the ways I could have spent Veteran's Day, I am so glad I ended up in your bow building class.I found working the wood with hand tools very therapeutic and productive. Not only was the training excellent, I have a useful tool that I made with my own 2 hands! I found Tom to be very supportive, empowering his students. I enjoyed his course very much.

David A. R., San Antonio, TX
This is my second time completing Tom's classes- his Advanced Reflex/Deflex class- and I highly recommend it!
In his first class (Traditional Long Bow class) it was information overload! In his second class I was more relaxed and a lot of the information learned in the first class came back to me. Now I feel very confident in building my next bow(s) on my own. The finer points of tillering/tuning the stave into a bow will come with more experience, but at least I know enough that I will end up with a nice bow and not break it in two. Woo Hoo! See you in June, 2015 at your next San Antonio class.

Danielle D., San Antonio, TX (14 yrs old)
Tom's class was amazing!
It was the most fun I have had in a long time.It was also educational and we (my 7 other classmates) all had fun joking around, lughing and building our bows. Tom was fun, nice and funny. For being 14 years old, making my own bow was amazing and Tom made it a fun experience.
I will definately take his Advanced Reflex/Deflex class either in Dallas/Plano or again in San Antonio.

Kimberly K., Karnes City, TX
I really enjoyed your class while having fun and learning a lot. I liked the way you demonstrated each task and started each section so I had a reference to compare my work to. I am looking forward to taking your Advanced Reflex/Deflex class with my 12 year old daughter.... either in Dallas/Plano or again in San Antonio.

Patrick W., San Antonio, TX
Always fun.

Michelle C., San Antonio, TX
I LOVED YOUR CLASS!    : )

Claxton Y., Center, TX
I really enjoyed taking your class.
The process was informative and easy to follow. I look forward to shooting my bow!

Jim C., Big Springs, TX
Superb class. I learned a great deal and highly recommend Tom's classes.
I will be in contact to set up a privately hosted class in Comfort, TX

David S., Bulverdo, TX
Good class. Well instructed, repeatable process, the value was well worth the tuition.

Ron V., Billings, MT
Very educational and fast-paced class.
The insructions were easy to follow and apply. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Derry V., Redding, CA
Enjoyed this course.
Good instructor, material was covered well. I will recommend this course to friends.

Randy V., Missoula, MT
Great experience!
A fun class with a very experienced teacher. I highly recommend taking Tom's bow making & finishing classes.

Jay R., Ridgecrest, CA
This class was a real pleasure to take!
The instructions were clear and repeated until we all understood what to do- completely. Even though I did not have a universal vise on the first day of class, Tom worked with me and kept me up with the other students in the class. I will definately take more classes with him and recommend his class to others.

Cameron C., Kuna, Idaho
A great class that I learned a lot from!
Thank you for the insight and hands-on experience.

Jerel C., Kamas, UT
Very informative and fun class.
Class size was great for individual instruction as needed. Hands on instruction and preparation.
Thank you for your patience and for putting up with me!

Ron S., Nashville, MI
Very enjoyable time at Tom's bow building class!
Even though I have made bows in the past, there was a great deal of new knowledge presented.

Dan W., Nashville, MI
Great class, great fun making a bow, great instruction!
I left Tom's class beliving I can go home with a stave and make a bow on my own. Thank you Tom!

Debra C., Shippenville, PA
Absolutely an experience that moved the spirit form soul to heart to hand!
The creation of a one-of-a-kind piece of art. I can only imagine the first draw in the wilderness and the successof a harvest that will result in the memory of a lifetime.
I now feel the tremendous drive to recreate this bow building experience for others;
A bow building class specifically for "Sheroes" (the mothers and wives of our Nation's returning Wounded Warriors) and
a "Pink Flight" Class specifically for woman fighting cancer!
Until we meet again in February, 2015, THANK YOU! You are truly amazing for giving!

Mike C., Tionesta, PA
Incredible experience!
I appreciated the connection of application and knowledge. Tom is a superior individual who's personality is matched with a high level of enthusiasm and class. We (The Taylor Diversion Program in Tionesta, PA) appreciate what Tom brings to the table in respect to professionalism to our growing organization. We are looking forward to further collaberations and partnerships!

Bryan S., Worthington, PA USAF (Retired)
Super, great class!
It was amazing to me to be able to properly tiller a bow with a rasp and sandpaper. The techniques Tom teaches you are
very understandable. I left his class feeling very comfortable in being able to build a bow on my own.
Tom's Finishing Class was a great "finisher".
The color of my bow turned out slightly darker than what I was going for but it looks great. I love the way my finished bow shoots.
Thank You!

Easton A., Boise, Idaho (Age 14)
This is the funnest class I have ever done!

Jay P., Meridian, Idaho US Army (Retired)
This is the 2nd class I have taken with Tom. The bows WORK!
The instruction is clear and well-paced. I will be back for his Advanced Reflex/Deflex Class.

Douglas F., Powell, OH
Excellent!
Tom's classes exceeded my expectations, were excellent teaching/learning experiences and
kept everybody engaged  throughout the course.

Bob M., Delaware, OH
Tom's classes (Bow Building & Finishing) were very informative.
Being able to ask questions until you get a complete understanding of the procedures was extremely valuable.
Definitely better than books or on-line videos because of the feedback and attention you receive.

Allison S., Dublin, OH (Age 14)
These classes were AMAZING! That is the only word I can use to describe them.
They were not at all what I was expecting. They were so laid back and really fun. I thought Tom
would be standing right next to us and walking around the room telling us what to do. However, I really liked the style of his
class. He would bring us together, explain each step and demonstrate it for us. We would go to our work area, do it and then go back up to his work bench to learn the next step or get more help if we needed it. Now I feel like this is MY BOW because I built it!
Tom was just simply there to guide me.

Jennifer M., Grove City, OH
Tom's Bow Building & Finishing Classes have been one of the best investments I have ever made.
The time spent with him learning how to build a bow with hand tools also taught me how to develop my woodworking skills.
I really appreciated Tom's warm welcome of the 3 women and teenaged students that were in the class.
He treated all 8 of us students with respect. His patience and individualized attention encouraged us to do our best,
work hard and complete our bow building projects!

Alan L., Gallaway, OH
Tom was very helpful, especially with the technical info of bow building.
With this new information, I will be able to finish my own bows that I had started a long time ago.
Tom was cheerful and very funny! He was prepared and happy to answer all of your questions- bow building and otherwise.
He is a great teacher!

Quinn T., Delaware, OH (Age 15)
I had a great time and am very happy with my bow!
I loved learning how the wood (Yellowheart) and bamboo work together to make such a strong bow.

Karen T., Delaware, OH
This is one class I would definitely recommend!
My son Quinn (15) took Tom's class as a project for his 4H entry.
Tom was amazing! In my opinion, as long as you can pay attention, anyone can come out of his classes with a beautiful bow!
He explains everything clearly and doesn't rush students through the process.
There was a flow to the class with no chaos. He answered everyone's
questions with enthusiasm and provided all students with all kinds of knowledge.

Howard T., Delaware, OH
I had a great time watching my son Quinn (15) build his own bow in your class.
The individual attention you gave him (and his 7 classmates) was impressive
considering the amount of information you needed to teach in a short period of time.

Nancy D., Orient, OH
Great Time! Thank you.

Mike L., Richardson, TX
Tom, your class was fantastic.
I am not a hunter nor an experienced shooter (archer) but your class offered a world of knowledge!
The level of your personal attention to each student is immeasurable and very much appreciated. Your passion for the craft and sport is contagious.... I just might have found two new hobbies!
Thanks and regards.

Jason O., Carrollton, TX
A fantastic weekend spent making bows with my son.
Tom, thank you for your patience and professionalism. You are truly an artisian. From my father's standpoint, you have opened up a rare oportunity for me to invest time and aquire a new set of skills- working with hand tools and wood.
I can pass down what I have learned in your bow class to my children.... something that will pay dividends for a lifetime.

Triston O., Carrollton, TX (Age 13)
Tom's classes (Bow Building & Finishing) were awesome!
The bows are super easy to make and really fun to shoot!

Ron S., Garland, TX
This was a fantastic experience.
The level of detail and instruction could not have been better. I will look forward to using the bow I made.
My next goal is to make one on my own for my grandson.
Thank you so much!

Dan W., Aubrey, TX
Excellent.
You are a very humble and patient teacher with great skills.
Besides learning to make a bow, I learned the proper way to use hand tools effectively- a definite plus!
I plan on using my new skills to build bows for my grandkids and family.... that and taking your Wilderness Class with you up in Idaho!

William "Bill" D., Highland Village, TX
Detailed, hands-on, patient instruction.
Worth the tuition with all the tips, hints and help during the process. Fun to see 8 total bows be built- each with their own challenges.

Landon H., Austin, TX
Great Class!
Although I assumed we would be assembling the staves, (I understand now the time restictions in a weekend class)
I had a great time building my bow!

Richard B., Dallas/Plano, TX
I loved Tom's class.
I also highly recommend an armguard prior to going out and shooting your new bow! Thanks Tom.

Justin S., Carpinteria, CA
I found myself coming to class each day very excited- with expectations running high for a such a "highly spoken of teacher" as Tom was and is.
I must say I was not left short nor hanging.
He is a man/teacher, as dedicated to teaching as he is his craft/art. This is coming from one craftsman for another.
As a custom home remodeler of 15 years, I noticed Tom's keen eye for detail- a lost art in itself- one that I hope to continue. Books, videos and DVD's are good, but splinters, wood dust and "Good 'Old-ish Tom" :) is where its at!
I'm looking forward to the Advanced R/D class in October, 2014.

Debra S., Santa Paula, CA
This was a fantastic class!
Tom is a wonderful, caring instructor. He makes the class fun. I am going home with a beautiful bow that I made and am confident in shooting.
If you ever have the opportunity, TAKE HIS CLASSES!

Arden R., Madeline, CA
I have been building bows off and on for about four years now.
I have learned to do it by watching DVD's and reading books but I felt there was always some information left out.
With Tom's class this was not the case.
His Bow Building and Finishing Classes were well worthwhile for me and fun to take.
Tom could answer all of my questions and explain why we were doing what we were doing. His class made complete sense.
Even with a full class (8 students) he provided a lot of 1-on-1 time with each student.
This class was great for 1st time bow builders and experienced bowyers looking to add to their bow building skills and knowledge.

Michael Mc K., Northridge, CA
This is my second class with Tom. I thoroughly enjoyed making my second bow- a R/D bow.
Tom's expertise and patience makes his class a terrific experience.

Ed F., Santa Clarita, CA (Age74)
I took Tom's Traditional Bow Building a few years ago with my grandson.
This time around I took the Advanced Reflex/Defflex Class and a good bow was built.
Seemed there was even more NEW information this time! Good group lectures. Well worth my time!
Thanks Tom!

Chris G., Thousand Oaks, CA
Tom I just wanted to say Thank You again for a great class.
I've been meticulously applying the Tru-Oil Finishing System on my new bow and I have to say it looks amazing!

Hugh "Panhead" S., Ventura, CA
My wife got me Tom's Long Bow Class as a Father's Day gift knowing how long I had wanted a long bow.Tom's energy and and enthusiasm shows his passion to share and grow the sport of archery and bow making. I wish I was able to take a class like this 30 years ago.

Paul A., Westlake Village, CA
I asked lots of questions and all of them were answered to my satisfaction.

Jessica M., Boise, Idaho (Age 17)
I really love my new bow!
I enjoyed the process of making it (with my dad) and the craftmanship that I learned along with it. Tom was great to work with making it a lot of fun to do. I loved the class and would gladly come back for a bow "check up" (and more arrows! LOL). Thank you very much Tom, it was a pleasure!

Phil M., Boise, Idaho
Tom's class was a great experience for my daughter and I.
We enjoyed it very much and learned a lot about bow building.

Douglas S. M., Chaplin, Col., US Army Retired
Tom Turgeon's bow building workshopis a metaphor for life's many transitions. The process of taking a raw piece of wood into a professional long bow offers the gift of hope and transformation.
Strengths of Tom's workshop:
Personable, accepting and supportive. Don't change a thing!

Pattie B., Marietta, GA - Brasstown, NC
Being the only female in Tom's class could have been uncomfortable.... BUT.... Tom was the perfect combination of inclusion, managing to adjust for my height (vertically challenged!) and help me though the process without being condescending. His class was tons of fun and I learned soooo much. Plus, I have a custom bow!

Chris C., Saxatahan, NC
Tom has teaching bow building down to a science.
I had a great time in his class and really enjoy shooting my bow!

Dave D., Blairsville, GA (USAF, Retired)
Tom's class was outstanding!
I have been looking forward to it for nearly a year and I was not disappointed in any way. His instruction was excellent and I feel I now have the foundation I will need to build bows on my own in the future.

Richard D., Prattville, AL (USAF Retired)
I really enjoyed Tom's class.
It was informative and paced correctly to allow me to focus on doing as well as I could. I feel I now have an understanding of the process and know the answers to the "why's" of bowbuilding I had.

Jon S., Lynchburg, VA
I felt Tom's class was fun and educational.

Chuck M. F., Creston, NC
Everything Tom taught me was very thorough. I had not shot a bow in 22 years and I learned fast how to shoot- correctly. I am very happy how my bow turned out. I will definately be making another!

James A. Atlanta, GA
In a word: Awesome!

Russell T., Cumming, GA
Tom did an excellent job of teaching a complete novice woodworker like me to make an incredible long bow!

Steve A., Burnsville, MN
Loved the class. The pace was good and your Finishing Class presented a very interesting process.

Andre L., Minneapolis, MN
I had an excellent time- and as soon as I figure out how to stop the string from hitting my arm, I'll be shooting my bow.... a lot!
I knew some theoretical basics of bow making having read "The Bowyer's Bible" but certainly would not have known what I was doing without Tom's class. The only thing I would have done differently is I should've taken some notes!
Thanks much for the class!

Chris L., Minneapolis, MN
This was my second class with Tom. I ended up with a complete, fully functioning, custom made reflex/deflex bow built to my specs.
A hand crafted, practical tool.

Anthony M., St. Paul, MN
Thanks for a wonderful class- I really enjoyed it. I feel I have a superb bow. Everything exceded my expectations!

Carl P., Lauderdale, MN
I loved the class. I feel I got a good deal and am happy that I took it.
I am totally satisfied with my bow. It is easily the best bow I have ever owned!

Ted S., Niles, MI
I really appreciated the hands on and one-on-one instruction. It was an experience that enabled me to make an awesome handmade bow. Thanks Tom for a great class!

Keith G., Yellow Springs, OH
I have been making bows for 2 years. I learned just as much in Tom’s 2 day class as I had in the past 2 years of reading bow building books, comments on archery forums, watching YouTube videos, etc. Tom teaches an entirely different (simpler) approach to bow building. Coming from a hickory and Osage bow wood background I am now a true believer in bamboo backed Yellow Heart! My Reflex/Deflex bow came in at 49# @ my draw length of 27”….
 a true custom bow.

Mike K., Pewamo, MI
I loved the class! For me, it was an opportunity to fill a life-long desire to build my own bow.
Tom’s instruction was clear and informative. He made a difficult project fun and relaxing. Great class.

Mike T., Hopkins, MI
I really enjoyed these classes.
Both classes (Bow Building & Finishing) were extremely informative and helpful. Tom’s teaching style and patience are second to none. He takes seemingly complicated procedures and explains them thoroughly before showing you how it is done correctly. His classes were fast paced and relaxing at the same time.
PS: I will definitely be taking the Advanced Reflex/Deflex Class next year!

Ben B., Alto, MI (Age 13)
I loved this bow building class. My favorite part was seeing it (the stave) turn out to be an amazing bow!

Tim B., Alto, MI
Had the opportunity to complete Tom’s Bow Building and Finishing Classes with my son.
We had an awesome time learning how to make a bow and then shoot it together. Doing the class with my son added so much more to the overall class experience. Thanks again!

Jeff Patterson Caledonia, MI (Host)
This was my second time attending Tom’s Bow Building & Finishing Classes and the first time Hosting his classes.
Tom's class is well organized and well taught.
He is obviously knowledgeable in the art and craft of bow making, but is also a patient and effective teacher. He shares a wealth of information about the process from tree to bow.  His instruction includes learning qualities and bending characteristics and an explanation for each as to how removing material will affect the performance of the bow wood.  It allows the students to apply the information, not just to the staves in front of them, but to future projects as well.
Of great additional value is the wealth of information that applies to more than building a bow.
The first example is the razor scraping technique used on the surface of the bamboo.  This was almost immediately applicable in a home improvement project. By using this existing tool in a different way, I was able to remove several years of “slopped on” wall paint from the baseboards in our home without damaging the clear finish.
A second example is of general shop setup.  I had a number of large, heavy rubber mats on the concrete floor in my shop. Tom pointed out that by cutting them into smaller rectangles, they maintained their function as anti-fatigue surfaces to stand on, but were much easier to move and store.  A true Eureka! moment.
Great Class…. Again!
We are wishing Tom well from Michigan.

Randy M., Catlettsburg, KY (US Army, GS13, Retired)
The most beneficial instruction in a hands-on class that I have ever attended!
In 40+ years in the US Military, I have presented and attended hundreds of classes myself. You will accomplish your goal and be
extremely satisfied with Tom's classes.
I have been shooting bows for the past 55 years.... The bow I built in class is as sweet drawing and smooth shooting as any bow I have ever used. A real pleasure to shoot!

Jon L., Columbus, OH
Great Class!
I had tons of fun while learning about long bow making. I am planning on taking your Advanced Reflex/Deflex Class in August (1-3, 2014)
Great job Tom. I love my new bow!!!

James T., Pueblo, CO
Very good classes regardless of your woodworking skill level.
Tom does a good job teaching you how to make a bow. He is a natural teacher and VERY personable.
Thank you very, very much!

Bernie P., Columbus, OH (Advanced Reflex/Deflex Class)
Tom,
Excellent presentation.
I'm glad to be delving so much more deeply into this enchanting subject!

Cody, H., Englewood, OH (OSU)
I really enjoyed learning something new. Tom kept me interested in class with lots of good information about wood and the bow itself.
His step-by-step system helped me understand the entire bow building process. I'm looking forward to taking his Advanced Class in August (1-3, 2014) with my dad.

Jim H., Union, OH
My son and I can't wait for Tom's Advanced Reflex/Deflex Class in August (1-3, 2014).
What more can I say? Tom's class was great!

Alex K., Columbus, OH
I loved these classes (Bow Building & Finishing).
They were easy to follow. Beautiful end product!

Phil S., Pekin, IL
I really enjoyed Tom's classes- both building & finishing.
Greatly impressed with the finished product- after shooting my "bow"! Your instruction, Tom, was spot on for me.... except, of course, for the "stringing" of the stave early on. "You" really have to work on that! LOL

Jeff M., Onarga, IL
Thank you, Tom for a great class!
The handtool/woodworking skills that I learned makin a long bow would have taken me years to learn on my own.You pass on your knowledge so easily regardless of your student's age or experience- this is a true gift! I am looking forward to making more bows and am especially looking forward to the IL deer season!
Thank you for passing on the spirit of the bowyer.

Charis (care-iss) S., Mattoon, IL (14 yrs old)
I am 14 and took Mr. Tom's class with my dad- while he built a bow for my 11 year old sister.
This was my first real woodworking project. It was SPECTACULAR!
Mr. Tom is an excellent teacher. It was a very fun experience that I shared with my dad and I came away with an awesome bow!
I hope to put the knowledge you bestowed upon me to good use. Thank you Mr. Tom.

Dave S., Champaign, IL
This was a fantastic course.
Tom used adult teaching techniques (there was a 14 yr old girl participating in the Long Bow Building & Finishing Classes) which made learning easy and fun. I felt informed, supported and set up for success throughout the entire course.
As a bonus, I believe my bow is AWESOME!

Marty S., Racine, WI
Very enjoyable class.
Tom is a great teacher- not too hands on or hands off- a good balance there.I recommend Tom's classes (Long Bow Building & Finishing) to anyone interested in bow building or practicing archery!

Rob C., Champaign, IL
These classes (Long Bow Building & Finishing) were awesome! I only wish we had enough time, (clamps, jigs, etc.), to put together the staves and make a bowstring.

Joshua S., Mattoon, IL
Very enjoyable class. Valuable woodworking techniques passed on to us students.

Andrew E., Bellville, IL
Great Class. Work benches could be a bit higher!

CPT Vic D., US Army, Warrior Family Support Center, Ft Sam, San Antonio, TX
Your class was the best thing to happen to all of us Wounded Warriors!
Thank you for providing me and my fellow Wounded Warriors with the opportunity to learn from your Master Bowyer skills! We all
appreciated you and Don for donating the class and the patience you had with all of us. Good to see you are keeping the long bow building craft/art alive by sharing your experience and skill. I plan to spread the word of your good deeds in the future.

LTC Mathais S., US Army, Warrior Family Support Center, Ft Sam, San Antonio, TX
Great class. Great instructor!
I wish time permitted us Wounded Warriors to be able to go to FT. Sam Houston's archery range TONIGHT with Tom (and LTC Don) to shoot the bows we made. Everything else can stay exactly the same!

SGT David B., US Army, Warrior Family Support Center, Ft Sam, San Antonio, TX
This class and oportunity was AWESOME!
If you enjoy working with your hands this is the class for you. Tom is really laid back and very fun to be around. His instructions were easy to follow. I enjoyed making my own bow SO MUCH. Thank you for the oportunity to take your class at the WFSC Warrior Center.

Eli P., Warrior Family Support Center, Ft Sam, San Antonio, TX
A very good class.... I would DEFINATELY do Tom's class again!

LTC Steve P., US Army, Warrior Family Support Center, Ft Sam, San Antonio, TX
GREAT CLASS!!!
Very informative. Tom's class has encouraged me to learn more about bow making.

SSGT J.D. Q, US Army, Warrior Family Support Center, Ft Sam, San Antonio, TX
I loved Tom's bow building class! Well taught and instructed. I have learned woodworking with hand tools is a good way to "de-stress and relax. I learned a lot about bow building and will be ordering Tom's kits to make more!

Andy C., Colorado Springs, CO via Linkedin

Amazing to start with a very rigid piece of wood and bamboo and make it into an accurate bow! Tom is an excellent teacher with an amazing talent. So nice he is willing to share it with other people!

Rocky H., Grangeville, Idaho
Tom makes bowbuilding very easy- regardless of your woodworking ability. I thoroughly enjoyed learning the "why" and "how" of the entire process. I would highly recommend Tom's classes to anyone, regardless of whether they have an interest in archery or not!

Bryan B., Charleston, IL

Great second Reflex/Deflex Class. I will continue to recommend Tom's classes to my friends.

-----------------------------------

Scott S., Boise, Idaho

Fantastic classes! I learned everything from ground zero. I'm looking forward to hunting with my new custom bow and  making my second bow on my own (from one of Tom's Kits).

-----------------------------------

Andrew F., Boise, Idaho
Great class! I plan to build one solo from one of Tom's 72" Stock Bowyer's Kits.

-----------------------------------

Bud F., Boise, Idaho
I found Tom's class to be rewarding, challenging and relaxing all at the same time. I feel confident in building future bows on my own in the future. Great bow! ('course, I made it!)

-----------------------------------

Scott M., Conrue, TX

Tom's class was very pragmatic and clear. I would highly recommend his class to any level of woodworker or archer. Tom is a great congenite teacher. Your bow will hit hard and shoot fast.

-----------------------------------

James O., Sugarland, TX

This was a great class! I cannot believe how fast these bows shoot and how hard they hit. I can't wait for the hunting season.

-----------------------------------

Mike M., Santa Fe., TX
Two words:  GREAT CLASS! (2nd class with Tom Advanced Reflex/Deflex Class)

-----------------------------------

Michael B., Harlingen, TX
This is my first class with Tom and it will not be my last! I plan on taking his Advanced Reflex/Deflex Class next year. I have taken 5 different bow making classes.... Tom's if by far the must impressive class I have taken. I wish I would have known about Tom 7 years ago so I would not have wasted all that money on the other bowyer classes. What a great class and a whole lot of fun!

-----------------------------------

Jay P., San Antonio, TX
Tom takes the uncertainty out of making a bow. After enrolling and completing his class I would be perfectly comfortable to try to build a bow on my own. I know that if I had any questions he'd be quick to help me out.

-----------------------------------

Randy R., Pipe Creek, TX

Fun class and excellent bow! Learning the tillering process was fun.

-----------------------------------

Scott C., San Antonio, TX

This is a great class! I will do it again! I had lots of fun, learned a lot and look forward to your finishing DVD.

Josh O., SW Idaho (via e-mail)

I wanted to thank you for the outstanding class you gave my daughter November and I.  Being that my job takes me far away from home and for months at a time, it was very nice to have spent a portion of my leave on building something that will last a lifetime and provide a memory for my daughter and I to share.

My parents were in town also and you allowed my father to sit in on the class and help my daughter, which again was nice to see.  Mark (my father) is a fellow Wood-smith and enjoyed his time at your Long Bow course.  Even though my daughter was only 7 at the time, she was still able to do enough of the work herself (with a little guidance) to appreciate the finished product. It taught her that with a little hard work and determination, you can build something that will not only provide a means for food but also provide protection for your family if necessary.

The bows turned out beautiful in the end. The night before I had to leave for work, I finished waxing my daughters Bow and in the morning I was up extra early to put the leather hand grip on. The instructions you provided (so I could finish the Bows at home) were simple and easy to follow.

I will be back home in a few days and plan to finish waxing the Long Bow I built for myself at your class.  I'm looking forward to it.

Again, I want to express my gratitude for the experience and for you sharing your knowledge on the art of building a Long Bow.  It was awesome!

Regards,

Josh

Stephen B., Central ME (via Facebook)
In February, I shared a photo and liked Tom Turgeon/Boise Bows and Arrows because he was giving a way a free, custom-made longbow. It was one of those FaceBook giveaways that nobody ever wins, so it was a bit of a shock when I did win. I spoke with Tom on the phone later that day to make some arrangements, knowing that I'd be out of the country in March.

I believe it was around the first week of April that my wife came upstairs carrying a 73" shipping tube with a big smile on her face. She knew I'd been waiting excitedly for the bow and all the kids were happy to see me open the tube just like it was Christmas day. I remember pulling the grey bow sock out of the tube and feeling the wood inside, and then I unlaced the leather cord and slid the sock down to reveal what I described then and ever since as a work of art. A custom hand-made longbow by Tom Turgeon.

It is dyed a Forest Fire red that shows up a little bit in the sunlight on the first video. It is just beautiful. The box was adorned with notes from Tom congratulating me on the bow, and he signed the bow itself with a "Best Wishes" greeting that makes me happy. I called Tom right away and he told me how to string it over the phone. I'm pretty sure that he held his breath while I did it, hoping I wouldn't string it backwards and break it. But it worked out fine. While I was still on the phone with him, wearing my headset, I shot my first arrow at a tree and Tom said "that's a good sound" because he was able to hear the arrow hit its target.

It's just a beautiful bow, and even though I am an absolute novice at shooting, it has become a prized possession. It shoots fast, hits hard, and is very quiet compared to other bows I've seen.

Tom, thank you very much for making the opportunity available for someone to win this beautiful bow; and thank for taking such pride in your work.

Learned good methodology in shaping the bow as well as how critical some of the parts should conform to certain specific tolerances. Nicely done!

-----------------------------------

Ed H., Hamlake, MN
Tom did an excellent job teaching us the necessary techniques enabling us to make our own bows. His class was very interesting and informative. I learned a new skill set that compliments the woodworking skills I already had. While I am not an avid archer or hunter I am planning to pursue these new interests.

-----------------------------------

Ed K., Powell, OH
This was my second class with Tom. (I took his Traditional Long Bow Class last year.)
It was excellent! I have recommended his classes to many people....
now I can recommend his Advanced Reflex/Deflex Class as well!

-----------------------------------

Bernie P., Columbus, OH
Tom's classes (Long Bow Building & Long Bow Finishing Classes) exceded my expectations in every way!
His teaching method is thoroughly engaging and complete. There is nothing more satisfying than coming away from a workshop with NEW knowledge. Thank you!

-----------------------------------

Larry B., Hartville, OH
Your class was great!
I have done a lot of carpentry woodworking but never built a BOW! It was fun to see the process but the best parts were to watch the way you appreciated the life of the wood and the way you had us work with the wood to create our bows. Now it understands what I want it to do! Most people deal with only the mechanics of what they are building. You are a very good teacher. I really look forward to using my new bow!

-----------------------------------

Joe D., Baltimore, OH
I highly recommend Tom's bow building and Finishing Classes.... They were amazing!
The classes are extremely educational, comprehensive and instructional. Tom is very serious about his craft and very safety conscious. However, while teaching and explaining the process of bow building, he keeps things light and fun. I plan on having my wife take Tom's Traditional Class when I return to take his Advanced Reflex/Deflex Class. Thanks Tom!

-----------------------------------

Greg B., Columbus, OH
I thought the course was very good and provided appropriate checkpoints.
Advice: Concentrate on each step in Tom's process and it will be difficult for you to mess it up bad enough where it can't be fixed! I am happy with my bow and would not want it to be any stronger.

-----------------------------------

Kurt G., Plain City, OH
Tom's class was one of my best educational experiences!
I learned a lot that I can use in my job as an educator (H.S. Shop). I feel I can get my students involved in the long bow building process.
Great class! Thanks Tom.

-----------------------------------

Tom D., Galena, OH
A very instructive class with excellent communication. I came away with a very good bow.
I wish there was a way for you to voice every thought you had during the entire tillering process.

Congratulations to Tom D. for building his first Reflex/Deflex from one of our Master Bowyer Kits! To see Tom D. shoot both of his new bows click here:  http://boisebowsandarrows.com/videos

Robert P., Granville, OH
Good class. Tom is a good instructor and very easy to work with!

-----------------------------------

Mitri V., Champaign, IL
Tom's class was really well structured and easy to follow.
This is a great class for people of any skill level.
It has been over 20 years since I shot anything or worked with wood. You don't need to worry about being able to shoot a bow well or be an avid woodworker to enjoy his class.

-----------------------------------

Aaron J., Champaign, IL
Coming into Tom's class I knew nothing about woodworking.
Tom took the time to explain the process in very easy to understand terms. Through the process, he helped me achieve my goal of making a fantastic bow! Tom's knowledge and professionalism is excellent.

-----------------------------------

Andy D., Champaign, IL
This was one of my coolest Christmas presents ever!
I really like that you leave Tom's class with a very high quality bow.

-----------------------------------

Bryan B., Champaign, IL
I loved the class! Tom's method of  instruction is very easy to follow.
He had me confident- at each step- that the finished product wood be good.... and it was!

-----------------------------------

Kevin W., Mahomet, IL
Great class. Tom is very informative and energetic about the project!

-----------------------------------

Jerry D., Champaign, IL

-----------------------------------

Todd A., Champaign, IL
It was a very FUN class. Thank you!

-----------------------------------

Greg Y., Boise, ID
I fully enjoyed the Bow Building Class!
I feel the class flowed well from one step to the next. I was impressed by Tom's reasons and explanations of each step. The class was informative and very enjoyable. I am looking forward to taking more classes (Advanced R/D, arrow making/bow string twisting) from him.

-----------------------------------

Shelley Y., Boise, ID
I was able to observe parts of Tom's bow building class in which my husband was enrolled.
Very instructive and fun! Tom is clear and knowledgable. I plan on taking the first (Traditional) bow making class and my husband another (Advanced Reflex/Deflex) class. I enjoyed the class very, very much- especially the dyeing (Finishing) class!
Shooting arrows is addicting!

-----------------------------------

Sam H., Summerville, SC
Tom's Long Bow Class will forever be in my top 3 woodworking classes taken!
I enjoyed this class very much. I appreciated your patience and willingness to share your knowledge and expertise. I am looking forward to taking your Advanced Bow Building Class with you at the John C. Folkschool in June, 2014!

-----------------------------------

Richard E., Knoxville, TN
I had a great time making the NEW pride of my bow collection!
As a life long fiberglass bow shooter, I was amazed at how well my long bow shoots- sweet drawing, no stacking and absolutely no hand shock!
Tom is not only knowledgeable in his craft but a good teacher as well. He kept our whole group focused and interested throughout the entire process!

-----------------------------------

Steve N., Peachtree, GA
Awesome class!
It was wonderful to build a bow of my own with only one hand tool- a #50 file! This was my first attempt at building a bow and it shoots GREAT!
The instruction during the class was clear and easy to follow. Tom's coaching on how to actually shoot accurately with my new bow was excellent and a huge help.
THANKS FOR A GREAT CLASS!

-----------------------------------

Joe D., Brasstown, NC
Great class!
Working with the bamboo and the finishing techniques were eye openers. Backing a bow with the bamboo made for a quick shooting bow.

-----------------------------------

David E., Boise, Idaho
After a number of not so successful attempts at bow building, (splinters and poor casting bows), my wife signed me up for a Long Bow Building Class instructed by Tom Turgeon. Funny how others can see through your pride such was the case with my wife. What a gift! I could not have asked for a more informative class or a better instructor.
Tom is a true teacher in the art of bow building; he loves his craft and wants to pass it on. This meant that I entered into a learning environment without egos or coveted knowledge. He possesses a talent at reading each student's skill level and then instructs to their ability. Students not only walk away with a quality bow, but more importantly they leave with a sound bowyer foundation. In the world of bow building half truths and erroneous information, Tom was able to set me straight on what is correct and what is wrong. He is able to do this in such a way that I didn't feel bad for asking the questions nor did he make the providers of the wrong information lose face. I would highly recommend his class to anyone interested in bow building.

I appreciate you coming down here (to the WFSC) and putting on this class for us. It really means a lot to me.
It served as a great distraction to get my mind off of my daily rehab. I am looking forward to hunting with my bow!

BEST CLASS EVER!
No experience needed!
Bow building explained in great detail.... ALOT of good information.... Very well presented.
I plan on taking Tom's Advanced Reflex/Deflex Long Bow Building Class (at the Dallas Woodcraft in January, 2014).
With no woodworking history, I never thought I could build myself a bow. Now I know I can!

-----------------------------------

Bowen G., Bossier City, LA
Fantastic class, Tom!
I am NOT an experienced woodworker, bowyer or archer however, Tom's class and instruction was easy to understand and participate in.
I recommend this course to anyone interested in making something beautiful, functional and unique! Thanks again for running your class in Dallas last weekend. I am still amazed at how great my bow is! Now, to put on that handle wrap....

A special "Thank You" goes out from us here at BB&A to Bowen's wife COL. Diane Gillings, USAF for her military service to our great country!

Great Long Bow Class in Dallas this past weekend! Tom's instruction was clear and easy to follow.
Lets talk more about Firebelly and your Wilderness class in Idaho!

Darrell T., Grand Saline, TX
Great class! Tom is a great teacher. After attempting a few bow building attempts on my own with varied success, I finally learnedto make the bow that I set out to make!

Via email:
Tom - I really enjoyed the Dallas workshop.  Thanks for your good and fun instruction.  I am very proud of my bow and will enjoy for many years showing it off, once I get the finish completed. I plan the take the "advanced" class when you are in Dallas next year.

About that bamboo back hickory stave that I showed you Sunday after we were finished with your finishing class....
As you suggested, I reduced the size of the handle, and using the methods I learned from you in your workshop, I spent the last 2 1/2 days working it down into a bow that shoots well.  It took so long because it was really a hunk of a board and I also wanted to take my time and get my first one "on my own" right.  It turned out great, the measurement differential at the 19" mark was only 1/16" with a full brace height.  Once I get my black dye from Boise Bows and Arrows (BB&A), I will complete the finish and email you a picture.  Then, on to the next one.  LOTS OF FUN!

I look forward to the next Dallas class.

------------------------------------

Steve T., Haslet, TX
What a great class! Tom's enthusiasm, instruction and encouragement led me to building a wonderful long bow. With all that I have learned, I'm going to build a couple more!

------------------------------------

Ray M., Carrollton, TX
This is an excellent class to learn how to use hand tools and build a working long bow. The class is fun and functional. Tom is very knowledgeable and an excellent instructor. He transfers a lot of knowledge to his students. I am looking forward to making another bow and taking his advanced Reflex/Deflex long bow class (at the Dallas Woodcraft in January, 2014).

------------------------------------

Andy J., Dallas, TX
The class was great! I thoroughly enjoyed it. Tom is a very good teacher of skills, very patient and informative.
I really like my bow. Thanks!

Benjamin M., Dallas, TX (17 yrs old)
It was a great class and I learned a lot- a wonderful experience! Mr. Turgeon is a great teacher.
I would definately recommend his class to anyone.

------------------------------------

SGT Belinda L., US Army Warrior Family Support Center
I have taken several different skills classes since being assigned to a Warrior Transition Battalion, but none compare to Tom Turgeon's Long Bow Making Class. I feel Tom has given me a part of my life back. I have such gratitude that no words could justly convey the pride that Tom has given me in myself. I'll never be as good as I once was, but now I know that I can be as good as I ever was. Thank you so much Tom!

A note from Boise Bows and Arrows:
A special "Thank You" goes out to SGT Belinda L.'s husband, a Wounded Warrior SGT currently serving in the US Army over in Afghanistan.

------------------------------------

SGT Dawn G., US Army Warrior Family Support Center
Tom's class on bow making has been by far the most positive, fun and exciting class I have had the privelage of taking since being assigned to the Warrior Transition Battalion at Fort Sam Houston. At first I was hesitant to sign up being slightly concerned about my ability to make something as complex as a bow- especially with my given injury. The class turned out to be a confidence builder and afforded me the oportunity to use my injured arm which I found to be a GREAT added benefit!
I truly enjoyed Tom's class and the oportunity he brought to all of us soldiers. Thank you!

------------------------------------

SGT Dan H., US Army Warrior Family Support Center
Tom's class was excellent! It was well paced and extremely well taught. I can't wait to take another class or build another bow on my own out of one of his kits.
I can't say "Thank You" enough for putting this class on for us Soldiers!

------------------------------------

SGT Nic K., US Army Warrior Family Support Center
Great class and atmosphere to learn in. I highly recommend this class to anyone- scouts, military, retired vets and civilians!
Wonderful instruction with AWESOME results! Thank you Tom for taking time away from your wife and home in Idaho to teach us Wounded Warriors! Safe travels.

------------------------------------

SGT Tom R., US Army Warrior Family Support Center
I have wanted to make REAL bow since making toy bows as a kid. Tom gave me that oportunity! I wish the class was a week log instead of the 3 nights in order fo me to be able to pick Tom's brain even more than I did. Tom made the process easy to understand and grasp. I am anxiou to build a second bow out of Purpleheart and Wenge wood. With the knowledge I received in Tom's class I will be able to build more bows on my own in the future! Thank you for coming down to Texas from Idaho to teach us your craft!

A note from Boise Bows and Arrows:
A special "Thank You" goes out to SGT Tom R.'s wife, Wounded Warrior SSG Kimberly W., US Army.

This was an outstanding class! Tom was very patient, knowledgeable and very informative- teaching us students the entire bow building process. I feel confident that with his class instruction I will be able to build future bows on my own. The final product was of great quality and very much appreciated by all of the students who were lucky enough to be able to attend the class.
Thank you for all your support for the Wounded Warriors and the WFSC!

Glen O., San Antonio, TX
Excellent instructional technique. Tom did a great job of integrating stories with his teaching. Tom's instructional process was well laid out, clear flow of project completion. No uncertainty about completion time for each step.

Farley O., San Antonio, TX
Great class. I would take this or Tom's advanced class again. (May 24-26 San Antonio Woodcraft) Thanks Tom....
I learned a lot!

Christopher W., San Antonio, TX
Great class I really learned a lot and now I have a great bow!

SSG Robert "Troy" D.,  US Army Warrior Family Support Center
The long bow building class was very educational and gave me a glimpse into the art of  making a bow. I am extremely greatful for the opportunity to have been able to take Tom's class and even more greatful for the knowledge and patience Tom shared with us.

FC2 (SW) Rob B., US Navy Warrior Family Support Center
Great experience! Tom is a devoted instructor whose class really helped me to forget why I am stuck here (at the W.F.S.C.) waiting for a medical discharge. I had lots of fun! It was great to come away with a product and knowledge  that I can cherish for years.

-------------------------------------

SPC Robert B., US Army Warrior Family Support Center
I really enjoyed the bow building class and learned a lot. I appreciate that Tom donates his time, materials and energy. I also like that we get to keep the bows that we made!

-------------------------------------

SGT Larry S., US Army Warrior Family Support Center
Great class, Tom. Keep up the good work!

-------------------------------------

Grant E., Austin, TX
Excellent class! Tom is invested in his student's success. He answered our questions with ease. Clearly he has the experience to teach. Tom's class tops prior woodworking classes I have taken at Woodcraft- no offense intended.
I came away with an excellent bow and the feeling that this was a VERY valuable investment!

Jacob S., Austin, TX
I understand that time does not permit it, however, being a professional luthier (violin maker) I would love to learn more about the stave lamination process, wood selection (was discussed at the Finishing Class on Sunday) and different veneers. I am getting excited to go shoot the bow we made in class and building the reflex/deflex bow in your advanced class (Austin Woodcraft May, 2013). Thanks for a great class!

-------------------------------------

Ben Z., Austin, TX (13 yrs old)
Great class.... Love my new bow! I can't wait for the Finishing Class tomorrow. I also look forward to hunting with it.

-------------------------------------

Nikki Z., Austin, TX
I love the bow I built in Tom's class! I had a great time learning to better use the files and rasps too. Thank You!
(Nikki attended the class with her 13 yr old son Ben but built "her" bow for her 17 yr old son! What a MOM!)

-------------------------------------

Ellen L., Austin, TX
Tom was so patient but most importantly he is a wonderful teacher. I learned so much and had fun. I  am definately planning on attending another class with him- and other classes at the Austin Woodcraft as well!

-------------------------------------

Nestor C., Austin, TX
Tom is a great teacher who brings a great deal of knowledge and experience to his classes. He also presents the class in a fun way.
Great class, learned a great deal, well worth the tuition!

-------------------------------------

Jennifer S., Newhall, CA
I have taken Tom's classes twice now. It is exceptional and Tom is an equally exceptional teacher. I have no woodworking experience yet found working with hand tools and making a bow such a gratifying experience!

-------------------------------------

Dr. Mitch L., Atascadero, CA
Friendly, competent and professional presentation by a master craftsman!
I appreciate Tom's skill level to eye-ball and feel for minuscule adjustments for an emerging wood project. Thank you!

-------------------------------------

Al P., Ventura, CA
This is my second time to take Tom's excellent bow making class.
The first time I took his class with my son and we were both shooting on the second day! Tom's Finishing Class taught us how to make our functional bows weather proof and literally works of art. The first class was EXCELLENT!
3 years later, in my second class, I felt that Tom has really stream-lined certain areas of the bow building process yet still makes the time to explain all of the steps to each one of his students!
Tom's expertise is as an instructor and Master Bowyer is unequalled. I found his second class, like his first, instructional, FUN and ended up with very satisfying results!

-------------------------------------

Ken P., Thousand Oaks, CA
Being a high school wood shop teacher the only problem was waiting for my turn for instruction.. Now I know how my students feel! LOL
A very enjoyable and informative class!

-------------------------------------

Beth S., Ventura, CA
Thank you for ANOTHER extremely enjoyable class!

-------------------------------------

James C., Oxnard, CA
Tom is fantastic! He made sure I understood every step. With his guidance ANYONE can build a long bow!

-------------------------------------

Corben H., Camarillo, CA
Fantastic class. I recommend Tom's classes to anyone. I will be back for another class (Reflex/Deflex, October 4-6, 2013 at the Ventura Woodcraft) along with ordering bow building kits from Tom.
Thanks for the great weekend and awesome instruction!

-------------------------------------

Jeff C., Simi Valley, CA
Awesome class! Good teacher. It was fun and I will definitely be making more bows.

-------------------------------------

Mike V., Camarillo, CA
Class was instructive and informative. Tom was VERY thorough and kept the class interesting with his knowledge and sense of humor. I plan on taking his advanced Reflex/Deflex class next year (October 4-6, 2013 at the Ventura Woodcraft) with my wife who will be enrolling in Tom's Traditional Long Bow Class!

-------------------------------------

Ryan W., Fillmore, CA
Tom was very down-to-earth.
He also was very patient with everyone. Knowing we were all novices, he guided us through every step of the way- stopping to explain all the details of the bow building process. I would take this class again!

-------------------------------------

Brian D., Santa Clarita, CA
Class instruction was thorough and enjoyable.

-------------------------------------

Leo S., Newhall, CA (10 yrs old)
I did this class before and thought I may not have much more to learn. However, I learned a lot more than I was expecting! I also remembered things I had forgotten since my first class. It is a great experience for anyone.. and I am only ten!
It is a lot of fun too.

-------------------------------------

Bob M., West Hills, CA
Great class.
Tom taught at the level of the class participants. I found Tom to be an excellent, well organized instructor. He is extremely knowledgeable, gracious and possesses a caring attitude.

-------------------------------------

Graham H., Goleta, CA
Lovely class. Tom is especially good at explaining WHY he is doing things and accommodating the different skill levels of each student.

-------------------------------------

Rob B., Boise, ID
Tom did a great job teaching. He made what appeared to be a difficult task of making my first bow very easy to understand. To see something as nice as my bow being created out of a stave using nothing but hand tools was amazing! As for his Finishing Class, I loved it, what a blast! I will definitely be taking more of Tom's classes in the future. Thanks Tom!

-------------------------------------

Jackson B., Boise, Idaho (9 years old)
I thought Tom's class was fun! I also thought using a razor blade (to remove wood in the final tillering stages and to prep the bamboo for finishing) was kind of weird.... but NOW I understand it!

-------------------------------------

Russell A., Houston, TX (via forum post)
".... just a follow up and review of Tom's class.
I had mine finally this past weekend - best weekend in Archery I have had in a long time, if ever. The hours pass like nothing but time to kill. I'm not sure how far along you guys got on Tom's kits, but if you still are in the building stages, I would highly suggest one of you take his class  when it comes to WA.

The best thing I can say about the class Tom puts on is that he holds nothing of trade tricks/techniques to himself.

By taking the class, I now know there is one thing to working down the wood and another to working the wood down in a fashion to get a perfect floor tiller with minimal stress remaining on the bow - as Tom puts it, bows break more from leaving too much wood in the wrong places than from anything else. It's all about relieving the stress in a controlled fashion - that's something I could not have figured out- except through trial and error- unless shown in a hands on way. I feel Tom's class has shaved years off of my learning curve.
I didn't stay for the third day (Finishing Class) so I still have to stain and seal mine, but the bow came out better than I could have ever expected. It shoots great, too. Haven't done any testing, heck, I don't know the exact weight yet either! I a

Tom is a true master in his craft!
Not only does he truly enjoy the crafting of bows but his passion shines through when teaching others. I intend on attempting to craft a bow or two on my own and most likely take the advanced class in the next year (April 19-21,2013 Advanced Reflex/Deflex Class). Thank you for such a great time.

-------------------------------------

Brian L., Howard Lake, MN
The advanced class was awesome! It is a little more challenging than the traditional long bow class. The power and speed of my new reflex/deflex bow is amazing. It will definitely make a great hunting bow.

-------------------------------------

Timothy R., Minnetonka, MN (Woodcraft Store Manager)
Great class! I will be able to confidently recommend Tom's Long Bow Class to my customers.

-------------------------------------

Kevin C., Minneapolis, MN (15 yrs old)
Fun class and instructor! The bows are beautiful and feel like they were made for you.... which they were! I would definitely do this class again. (April 19-21,2013 Advanced Reflex/Deflex Class)

-------------------------------------

Ian S., Edina, MN (15 yrs old)
I enjoyed the class a lot, thank you! I appreciated the help and direction in building my bow. I really liked being able to shoot at the end of the class. I think everything was clearly explained. I also liked that all the tools we used were simple hand tools and were not dangerous. The simplicity is a good thing!

-------------------------------------

Jean S., Edina, MN (12 yrs old)
Thank you! This class was really fun. The end product is very pleasing! The Bow shoots well and is fun to shoot. Thanks for the arrows.

-------------------------------------

Charles S., Edina, MN
Tom, Great Class! Wonderful for kids too. Having a 12 yr old excited for 11 straight hours was amazing! I'm sure the adults need their own bows too. See you soon. (April 19-21, 2013)

-------------------------------------

Tracey P., Seattle, WA
A fantastic class for ANYONE!

-------------------------------------

Gary R., Port Ludlow, WA (Ret. Jr. H.S. Teacher)
Tom has well-honed teaching pedagogy- regardless of the participants' age. He connected effortlessly with the 12 year old lad attending the classes with his father. Middle school aged boys can be extremely challenging, yet under Tom's tutelage, Michael melded easily with all the men in our group.
Amusing anecdotes flowed off the tongues of virtually everyone, bonding us participants with common life experiences.
Tom's passion for the art of bow building makes him truly a Master Bowyer! GREAT FUN!

-------------------------------------

Michael A., Tacoma, WA (12 yrs old)
I think Tom's classes were very exciting! I am sure whoever might sign up for his classes will like them very much!

-------------------------------------

Brian A., Tacoma, WA
Tom's classes were top notch! I really enjoyed them. Even though I am a "seasoned" woodworker and carpenter, I learned a lot.
The instruction and process was easy to understand.
While I found Tom's teaching style and information at a level that an "expert" would appreciate and learn from, my 12 year old son, Michael, was also able to understand and grasp the concepts as well.
Tom was friendly and spent the neccessary time with each student in order for us to get the results we were looking for. I would definately take Tom's classes again!
Having completed both the Long Bow Building & Finishing Classes, I feel confident enough to purchase one of Tom's kits and build a bow on my own at home. Thank you Tom!

-------------------------------------

Ron S., Auburn
This is my third class with Tom- all three were great. Lots of fun and great instruction. Also a very nice product to take home.
I hope to see you again Tom!

Darrell S., Sammamish, WA
Tom was very helpful and knowledgeable.

Hey, this is Jake. I thought u were a great teacher and I learned a lot. I can't wait for your next (Advanced Reflex/Deflex ) class!
See you later!

-------------------------------------

Ronnie H., Nampa, ID (Jake's Mom) via Text!
Thank you-
Jake is showing his uncle (his bow) now- he hasn't stopped talking about the last two days (in your bow class)- he had a blast!

-------------------------------------

Kathryn P., Franklin, TN
I LOVED this class! Not only was it simply informative, the one-on-one time with Tom ensured that everyone in the class understood why we were doing each step. He "holds our hands" through the critical points in his process and gives us plenty of "leash" on the creative parts- example: learning to use the dyes in his Finishing Class.
The dyes and techniques are amazing! I will dye (instead of stain) everything now.
I know my friends will be envious when I bring my bow around!

-------------------------------------

Alfredo V., Nashville, TN
This is a great class for hunters looking to transition from compound bows to traditional long bows. You will leave with pride in the bow you build. What an experience!
Tom is a great teacher. As a big game hunter (TN, IL, FL & CO) I appreciate that there are guys like Tom who are willing to teach us to get back to the true beginnings of bow hunting and build our own bows. I can't wait to take my first big game animal with the long bow I built with him!

-------------------------------------

Danny O., Franklin, TN
This (Traditional Long Bow) class was everything I hoped it would be and more. I can't wait to get out in the woods and hunt deer with my new bow!

-------------------------------------

Tom H., Winston-Salem, NC
I attended Tom's class with my 13 year old son, Henry. I believe Henry's comments sum up our experience.

-------------------------------------

Henry H., Winston-Salem, NC (13 Years Old)
I thoroughly enjoyed taking this class because I have always wanted to make a real bow. I thought this class was very helpful and I think this is the best way to start making bows. I had a fantastic time going through the steps all the way until the end when I shot my new bow.

-------------------------------------

David Allen L., Climax, NC
Great class! Tom was very informative and patient both are qualities of a good teacher. Once in a life time experience!

I have hunted with bows since the early 70's and shot all types of bows. I have always wanted to build my own bow and Tom's class has made that dream come true. Many Thanks to Tom!!!

This was a phenomenal experience that exceeded all of my expectations.
Being able to join in and make a bow alongside my 12 year old son Jasper was a great experience. Tom is not only a Master Bowyer he is a Master TEACHER! He helped inspire both of us with his knowledge and passion for the craft. I look forward to many years of association with Tom and his expertise. Thanks Tom!

One other thing - I have spoke shaves but we used basically a #50 Nicholson rasp for the whole project to purposely keep wood removal slow, but, on the next one (have 2 more coming to build) I will be using one of his Turgeon Tools flat-soled spoke shave - man, that thing makes the best shave out there look like a dull butter knife...."

Jasper S., Bountiful, UT (Age 12)
I loved it (Long Bow Building & Finishing Classes)!
Tom taught me everything I could want to know about "bowyering". EVERYONE should do this!

One gains a lot from making something to use for many years.
This is passed from generation to generation- something this world needs more of.

-------------------------------------

Randy M., Deer Park, WA  (Lt. Col., USAF Retired, Vietnam)
A course well done!
I have tried to build long bows on my own and have never made one that hasn't broken in the end. Tom's course has given me the confidence to repeat the process and be successful. Timely hints, help and instruction. A LOT of positive feed back.

-------------------------------------

Joe S., Spokane Valley, WA (US Army, Iraq, Retired)
Great class! Lots of fun and very informative. Even with my shoulder injury I had no problem keeping pace or shooting my bow.
I enjoyed every minute!

-------------------------------------

A very good class for me to observe and my 13 year old grand daughter to attend and complete!
She gained a lot from the class.... Tom was teaching more than bow making to her.

Great course! I had a blast spending time with my son as we both built
longbows together. Tom's course was simple enough for my 11 yr old,
and Tom was great with him. I would have loved spending more time
with the woodworking aspects, lamintating and cutting out the stave
ect. All in all it was a blast!

Awesome course! Great instruction.!

Bryan M., E-5 Petty Officer 2nd Class ET2 US Navy (Retired)

Great class, very informative and good stories! There was always
something to do or listen to. I cannot wait to tell my friends about
Tom's class and show them my bow -  especially the bow hunters!
I wish I could have attended the finishing class but could not due
to a prior commitment.

--------------------------------------

Neil K., Captain US Navy

Great class! I loved working with Tom and I had a blast. I would
have liked to have built the stave, but understand the time and
material constraints Tom is under. Very surprised by the light
physical weight and the power of the bows draw weight. The
Finishing Class was outstanding on its own- great techniques.
Highly recommend it to anyone with an interest in making a real
quality bow. Thanks Tom!

Tom F., E-2 Pilot US Navy (Retired)

Great course taught with patience and step-by-step tasks that
controls your approach to a very good bow. Tom taught that by
making small changes (in tillering) can effect the bow in large
ways. I've learned a lot about bow making, string design, finishing
techniques and about life in Boise, Idaho. It was great seeing you
Tom! I had a great time and I am now a proud longbow owner!

--------------------------------------

Lew A., Virginia Beach, VA
A great experience for a "no-nothing-about-longbows and shooting
arrows" 72 year old grandfather! I loved the class and especially the
hands on teaching of Tom Turgeon. I plan to help my grandchildren
with a bow building project soon with some of Tom's Youth Kits. Tom
is the hardest working instructor I have ever seen.

--------------------------------------

Mark P., Norfolk, VA
Great class!
Your passion for the art inspires. Tom is very open and approachable.
Nice incremental steps allows you to end with a great finished bow.
Please keep me posted about your Reflex/Deflex DVD (June 1, 2012)
and Advanced (Reflex/Deflex) Class (May 3-5, 2013).

Enjoyed class I would recommend to anyone. Fun, educational and
amazing to see why and what is required to make a bow work.

I thought this class was great! Tom was very helpful and patient. I am very pleased with my bow. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to do the woodworking, but Tom made it very easy.

John N., Prior Lake, MN
The Bow Building Class had a good pace and was enjoyable. I think I will enjoy trying to finish another kit on my own with everything I learned here. Thank you!

Dominic L., Minneapolis, MN
This class was very educational and fun! Building a bow is something that I have wanted to do for years. Tom made the class interesting and had a good rapport with everyone.

Brian L., Minneapolis, MN
This was one of the best woodworking classes I have taken. Tom's techniques are great on teaching us the proper tillering of the staves, filing, sanding and actually shooting the bows. I highly recommend the Bow Building Class for anyone who bow hunts or the novice archer to learn this heritage. Well done Tom!

--------------------------------------

Michaela S., Apple Valley, MN
I had a lot of fun in Tom's class! Thanks for teaching all eight of us. Making a longbow takes more precision that I thought. All my questions were answered really well & I look forward to making a longbow on my own. Thanks again!

--------------------------------------

Brian S., Apple Valley, MN
My daughter, Michaela 14 and I really enjoyed the class. Tom was very good instructing us and we made a very nice longbow that my daughter loves to use. Thank you very much!

--------------------------------------

Tom H., Minneapolis, MN
Your manner of teaching and the content made for a very enjoyable class .  It was enjoyable to make the bow and shoot it the second day I would recommend the class to anyone who was interested. I also appreciate your plan to stay in touch and answer questions. Thanks for coming!

--------------------------------------

John K., Shakopee, Minneapolis, MN
This was really a great class. I tried to make a bow once before, but it failed during tillering (wrong wood, tried to draw it too far). It was nice to build a bow that was a success and learn how to tiller it correctly.

Great class. Tom breaks down the instructions into very easy steps to follow. But....should have included an arrow making class!! LOL

Taking this class has been an awesome experience. I've got to meet others who have the same passion - archery! This class has been a moral booster for me. Tom has been a big blessing for us here, we are honored to have him.

SGT Bryan F. US Army, Warrior Family Support Center
Tom the class was awesome! I had a great time and learned a lot. I am really excited to shoot the bow and I take pride in the fact that I made it. I can't wait to practice so that I can get good enough to hunt with it. The class was great and I greatly appreciate the fact that you donate your time and materials to us Wounded Warriors. Thank you!

First time bowyer, never built anything like this before.... and I LOVED it! Great class. Tom teaches you the bow building process, step by step. Lots of individual attention. Highly recommended- even for novices.

Great (Long Bow Building and Finishing) classes! I wanted to make something functional and my bow is very useful as well. It really turned out GREAT. I even hit the target! I am looking forward to taking your advanced Reflex/Deflex class July 27-28, 2012.

--------------------------------------

Vinny H., Seattle, WA
I really enjoyed this (Long Bow Building) class. I never felt as though I was waiting too long for instruction because I was always learning. I would have liked to have seen a glue up but realize that is not practical in a 1-1/2 day class.

--------------------------------------

Doug C., Sumner, WA
Excellent. Learned way more about how wood reacts to shaping and being stressed.

--------------------------------------

Rich G., Seattle, WA (Bowyer)
I thought Tom's class was very good, very informative.

Mike M., Houston, TX
Excellent class. I am looking forward to building a Reflex/Deflex long bow when you are back in SW Houston (November, 2012).

--------------------------------------

Russell A., Dickinson, TX
As a long-time archery enthusiast, I can tell you that Tom's class is about the best two days I have had in archery. Shooting (bows) is competitvely challenging for me, but, I found BUILDING my own bow from a stave (Tom's premlaminated Bowyer's Kit) in his class is my ultimate archery experience!

By taking the class, I now know there is one thing to working down the wood and another to working the wood down in a fashion to get a perfect floor tiller with minimal stress remaining on the bow - as he puts it, bows of this kind break more from leaving too much wood in the wrong places than from anything else. It's all about relieving the stress in a controlled fashion - that's something I could not have figured out, except through trial and error, unless shown in a hands on way. I feel years have been shaved from my learning curve.

I didn't stay for the third day of finishing, so still have to stain and seal mine, but the bow came out better than I could have ever expected. It shoots great, too. Haven't done any testing, heck, I don't know the exact weight yet either  Assume about 35# where I wanted based on feel.

One other thing - I have spoke shaves but we used basically a #10 Nicholson rasp for the whole project to purposely keep wood removal slow, but, on the next one (have 2 more coming to build) I will be using one of his Turgeon Tools flat-soled spoke shave - man, that thing makes the best shave out there look like a dull butter knife.

Randy W., SW Houston, TX
Great and informative class, Tom. I had loads of fun!

--------------------------------------

Bruce S., Missouri City, TX
This (Advanced Reflex/Dflex) is my second class with Tom and I enjoyed it as much as the first.... I am looking forward to a third this November (2012)! It took a few hours working with my hand tools but the training from the first class returned. I really like my new R/D bow. Keep coming to Texas.... we appreciate you!

--------------------------------------

Dan W., Houston, TX
Tom is a great instructor who takes time for each student. I would recommend his classes to anyone- whether they are interested in archery or not- just for the value of proper hand tool use and learning to shape wood. I will the hand tool and finishing techniques/skills Tom taught me and apply them to my other woodworking hobby- wooden model ship building!

--------------------------------------

Jason B., Orange, TX
Great class. I enjoyed it tremendously!

--------------------------------------

Dan W., Houston, TX
Tom's Finishing Class was a great follow through for his Building Class. All the techniques to finish my bow can be applied to my other woodworking projects.

--------------------------------------

SSG Lisa S. US Army, Warrior Family Support Center
This was the most interesting and theraputic course any of us Wounded Soldiers could have possibly taken! I speak for all of us when I say, "A great BIG thanks, sir!"

--------------------------------------

SGT Daniel B. US Army, Warrior Family Support Center
Your bow building class was a great experience. Being the first class that that I have taken since I was blown up, it really helped me to relax. Thank you so much for your time and the whole experience!

--------------------------------------

CPL. Kannon D. US Army, Warrior Family Support Center
Awesome class! If you get the chance, we would love to have you back! I would gladly take your class again!

--------------------------------------

SFC Tim H. US Army, Warrior Family Support Center
(A man of few words.... and a BIG appetite!)

--------------------------------------

CPL. Bertin E. US Army, Warrior Family Support Center
Too bad your class went by so fast.... but it was great for us otherwise!

--------------------------------------

CPT. John H. US Army, Warrior Family Support Center
I just want to say, "Thanks!" for the great class. For you to come down here (Warrior Family Support Center) and teach us how to build bows was, well, GREAT! I will be in touch regarding your bow building kit so my boy (12) and I can build one together.

--------------------------------------

Wayman K., Saginaw, TX (84 Years young) via email....
(Advanced Reflex/Deflex Bow student.)
It was a thrill for me to try and absorb as much of your knowledge and skills as a bowyer as I possibly could- in a weekend that was much too short! You have an amazing ability to teach your craft to an "old redneck like me" and for that I will always be grateful! I want to learn more about laminating a Reflex/Deflex stave so I will look forward to your next DVD.
From my wife Mary, "Thank you for dinner and all you have done to teach Wayman. He has loved learning how to make the bows and has so enjoyed your friendship!"

--------------------------------------

Shane S., Newcastle, TX
Tom's Long Bow Building Class was a wonderful experience. He is a great and patient instructor in the way he explains the physics of how a wooden bow actually works. At the end of the class he makes sure you walk away with a top notch, fully functional bow- for target shooting or hunting. Hard earned money well spent!
In addition to the bow making class I highly recommend Tom's Finishing Class! I learned many techniques in his finishing class that I will be able to incorporate in other projects as well.... Ie.: Knife handles!

--------------------------------------

Karen C., Plano, TX
This class (Long Bow Building) was a great experience for me. I have been shooting archery for 7+ years and have been searching for someone to help me take my skills to the next level. Tom is very patient taking time with every student to guide them through each step of the process. I look forward to working with Tom in the future!
Tom's Finishing Class is a really great follow through class to his bow building class. The dye blending techniques he teaches make dyes much more versatile than stains. They allow for a greater level of creativity. I can't wait to show my bow off to my friends!

--------------------------------------

Rick S., Stephenville, TX
Tom's Bow Building Class is an excellent class! Being a novice woodworker I really learned a lot. Tom is a very patient teacher. I highly recommend his class for anyone interested in long bows or correct hand tool skills!
I also attended Tom's Finishing Class which is the perfect compliment to his bow building class. Applying an exotic finish on a bow you built in his class is the icing on the cake! Very cool class where you learn how to blend dyes to create finishes unachievable by other means. Great class!

--------------------------------------

Kevin S., Ft. Worth, TX
I enjoyed Tom's Long Bow Building Class. Even if you have never worked with hand tools, you will build your own working long bow by the end of the class!

--------------------------------------

Curtis W., Burleston, TX
I really enjoyed the class and look forward to making more bows with the skills I learned here. I had a great time at your class!

--------------------------------------

Nick B., Mc Call, ID
I took Tom's Long Bow Building Class in order to build a bow for my high school Senior Project. His class was easy to comprehend, follow and apply. Building a bow is not as difficult as I had thought although it does take patience and concentration. Building my own bow means more to me than buying one (I have been shooting a compound bow). I plan to hunt elk with the bow I built in the class this fall. Tom's bow building process works!

--------------------------------------

Ricky B., Whiteville, NC

This was my second long bow class with Tom and I enjoyed it as much as the first one! The class content and instruction was excellent. In both class experiences, students had plenty of personal instruction time with him. He is a joy to talk to, work with and learn from.
I hate that his classes have to end!

--------------------------------------

Jim F., Creedmoor, NC

Tom is an excellent teacher and runs a great class. Sometimes it is difficult to learn a new skill from a "craftsman" because even though they know their craft, often times they are not good instructors. Some simply lack the patience to teach even the basic skills.
Tom is NOT this way!
He knows his craft and instructs with patience and careful attention to detail. His class was a joy.
If you are on the fence about taking his classes, do yourself a favor- SIGN UP!
You rarely get the chance to learn so much in such a short period of time.

--------------------------------------

Tom B., Greenville, NC

This was my second class with Tom Turgeon. I built a traditional long bow with him in my first class and a reflex/deflex long bow in his advanced class. Tom also taught me to properly use my new (Turgeon Tools) spokeshave to build my second bow.
I highly recommend Tom's classes to anyone. He is an excellent instructor!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Earl M., Pfafftown, NC

Great instruction! The class size was perfect for me. A tedious process (to build a long bow) but it works! At the end of the class, I looked back and saw that patience and attention to detail paid off. I am glad I stuck to the process- I LOVE my new bow!

--------------------------------------

Jack B., Columbus, OH

Very enthusiastic, energetic instructor!

--------------------------------------

Matt M., Hilliard, OH

Great class! I had a wonderful time. You have earned a life-long customer!

--------------------------------------

Mike G., Milford Center, OH

Great class! The pace was good. Tom made it fun and was very informative. I will definitely take another class (Advanced Reflex/Deflex Long Bow Class, June 8-10, 2012) at Woodcraft. [My son and I built bows in this class.] I plan on making a bow for my 11 year old daughter to shoot with us!

--------------------------------------

Zach G., 16,  Milford Center, OH

All I can say is it was a great experience! I learned so much in only 2 short days. I plan on continuing to make bows exactly the way Tom taught me. I loved the time I spent working on my bow and am very happy with the results!

--------------------------------------

Edward K., Powell, OH

An excellent class with great instruction. On top of learning how to build a bow, you end up with an effective and satisfying tool.
I would recommend this class to anyone!

--------------------------------------

David B., Delaware, OH

Excellent class! The instruction was clear and east to follow. The results were impressive!

--------------------------------------

Bill S., St. Louisville, OH

GREAT class! I learned a lot and had fun. Tom shares loads of information. I believe I can go on to build long bows on my own.

--------------------------------------

Daniel U., Kettering, OH

I missed Tom's class last year by a few weeks so I posted his class on my calendar (for an entire year) so I would not miss this one! Definitely a unique experience!

--------------------------------------

Darrell W., Columbus, OH

Very enjoyable class. Looking forward to your Advanced Reflex/Deflex Class (June 8-10, 2012) at Woodcraft in Columbus.

--------------------------------------

David R. , San Antonio, TX

This was one of these "rare" classes where the more you learn , you realize how little you know. I was expecting this to be like a class making boxes. Once completed, I would go home and knock out a dozen or so. Instead, I found out how much finesse and physics it takes to make a "good" serviceable bow. Tom is a great, patient instructor- very experienced and knowledgeable. He also posseses the gift of being able to convey that knowledge to others in an easy way for them to understand. Many thanks!!

-------------------------------------

Patrick W., San Antonio, TX

Great class! I'm look forward to the next one (Reflex/Deflex Nov 9-11, 2012).

--------------------------------------

Don M., Normanna, TX

Outstanding class!!! Tom kept my interest the entire time. Best woodworking class I have taken.

--------------------------------------

Joe H. Odessa, TX

Exceptional class! Very professionally presented. Even when waiting in line for instruction, I was learning. I would recommend this class to anyone that wants to learn to make a bow.

--------------------------------------

Gary U., San Antonio, TX

Very informative class with very good organization!

--------------------------------------

Conrad A., San Antonio, TX

Great class, not at all what I was expecting. I learned a lot of techniques that will help me try and conquer one on my own!

--------------------------------------

Jason S., San Antonio, TX

Coming into this class I had built about a dozen bows of varying success. I have studied bow building for several years. I still had plenty to learn and Tom is not shy about sharing knowledge. I learned both bow building techniques as well as good general woodworking techniques. I would recommend this class to anyone interested in bows, bowmaking or woodworking. Thanks Tom!

--------------------------------------

Rob T., San Antonio, TX

Outstanding class, learned not just bowmaking, but good woodworking techniques.

--------------------------------------

Christopher B., Morino Valley, CA

The class was beyond anything that I could imagine. The instruction was excellent & informative. Tom you were very receptive, kind and patient. I only wish I had more time to pick your brain. There is so much more to understanding why you place the finishing touches that you do.

--------------------------------------

Bob N., Santa Paula, CA

This is the second class (Straight-limbed and Reflex/Deflex) that I have taken with Tom and is by far the best continuing education class I have ever taken. We had advanced and beginning students and Tom took the time to answer every question and walk people through the entire bow making process. This is a must attend class for anyone interested in building bows.

--------------------------------------

William S., Westlake Village, CA

Great class! Tom is really patient and helpful. I will be a return customer!

--------------------------------------

Bill S., Oxnard, CA

Wow! I will return.

You will probably meet my son in the Denver area. Let me know when you will be in Denver for classes.

--------------------------------------

Colin M., Oakview, CA

Insightful & very willing to share ones knowledge of their craft. Much appreciated. Looking forward to the next class (Reflex/Deflex Class April 13-15, 2012 Ventura Woodcraft). Thanks Tom!

--------------------------------------

Beth S., Ventura, CA

LOVED the class! It was everything I dreamed it would be & more.

--------------------------------------

David G., Ventura, CA

Tom, your class was the perfect way to decompress after 27 years at the landfill. I woke up this morning and looked at my bow. It's almost exactly what I had pictured in my mind when I started. I still need some practice to get the dyes to do what I want but I'm proud of the way it turned out. As always, you gave generously of you time and knowledge during the class and I think everyone came away with a positive experience. I'll keep in touch and let your know how I do (entering my new long bow) in the Ventura County Fair this year. (In 2010 David entered his FIRST long bow into the Ventura County Fair and was awarded the blue ribbon in  its class and was nominated for Best In Show!)
Thank you Dawn for being so generous and letting us have the time with Tom!

--------------------------------------

Rebecca B., Ventura, CA

This is my second bow class (Straight-limbed & Reflex/Deflex) with Tom. I enjoyed it very much. Both were fun and educational. Thank you!

--------------------------------------

Scott S., Westlake Village, CA

I would have liked a quick overview of the whole process up front. It would have helped me understand what level of perfection was required at each step.

--------------------------------------

Rachael A., York, PA

The class was amazing and very easy to follow along with. I wish it had been taught on a Monday-Saturday time so maybe we could learn to fletch arrows and twist bowstrings as well.  I would recommend Tom's class to anyone wanting to learn bowmaking.

--------------------------------------

Mark B., Oakfield, NY

This course has met my expectations, and then some. Far more involved process than I imagined. Would like to continue learning and look forward to building more bows. Wish Idaho was a little closer. I look forward to a continued relationship in the days to come.

--------------------------------------

Joe B., Brasstown, NC

Great Class! Great Instructor!

I especially appreciated Tom's patience and sincere desire to ensure everyone understood each step of the tillering process. His approach all but guaranteed each student walked away with a light, fast and smooth shooting bow, as well as a functional, beautiful piece of art! Thank you Tom & Dawn!

--------------------------------------

Ricky B., Whiteville, NC

I used my vacation to attend this class and I am very glad I did. This has been time well spent doing something that I love and Tom's great knowledge of of the long bow is right on. Tom has taught me a craft that I did not know and now I look forward to more bow building in the future.

Thanks Tom and Dawn for a great week. You both are terrific people.

Hope to attend another class in North Carolina!

--------------------------------------

George D., Aromore, TN

Enjoyed Class. Learned a lot would like more explanations as to "why" you take each step.

Looking forward to the next class in North Carolina!

--------------------------------------

David F., Egg Harbor, NJ

Great Class!

You are a true master Tom, I hope my learning can in some way enhance your own expertise.

--------------------------------------

David S., New Market, MD

Great class! Learned a lot. Tom is a very patient and knowledgeable teacher. The process that Tom teaches his beginning students seem to be very successful in ensuring success and providing a solid foundation to continue onward.

--------------------------------------

Tom B., Greenville, NC

Great teacher and assistant. I really enjoyed your class and appreciate you and Dawn sharing your skills & time with us. Love the bow!

--------------------------------------

Stephanie L., Treasure Island, FL

Great one on one time, I came out with a great bow. Thanks for your sense of humor. I would have liked to know the next step (till end) to know the end goal. I would have been more comfortable knowing and more careful with the #50 if I knew there wasn't much between that and sanding.

--------------------------------------

Jason B., Gaithersburg, MD

An amazing class!  Learned more useful things about wood, bow and bow hunting in these few short days with Tom than the rest of my life. A very fun teacher!

--------------------------------------

Ken T., Mankato, MN

Awesome classes! (Bow Building & Finishing) This was my first LONG BOW build.
Tom is a great instructor and a down-to-earth "genuine" individual.
30 years ago I built a compound bow with my dad. Now I am excited to be capable of building long bows with my sons!
--------------------------------------

Margaret D., Carrollton, TX

I enjoyed Tom's classes (Long Bow Building and Finishing) and making my own bow!

--------------------------------------

Joe Y., Southlake, TX

I came into Tom's class not knowing what to expect other than I would go home with some type of long bow.
Well....
His class blew my mind! It was all hands on. The techniques were simple to understand, apply and remember. I can also employ Tom's finishing techniques to other woodworking projects I have planned. I plan on attending Tom's classes again with my 2 boys either in Fort Worth (Woodcraft, February 24-26, 2012) or back here in Dallas (Woodcraft, March 30, 31, April 1, 2012) next year.
Both of Tom's classes get 5 stars in my book!!

--------------------------------------

Tim Z., Sanger, TX

GREAT class, teaching techniques and easy learning. While spending time in line waiting for the next round of Tom's instructions, there was a LOT of teaching going on.... and some b.s.-ing and storytelling too!
All in all I can not recommend Tom's classes too heavily. The cost may seem high but considering you leave with a custom built long bow (that you built yourself) 2 arrows and a MOUNTAIN of knowlege.... a VERY good value!
I plan on taking Tom's Wilderness Bow Building Class when my schedule permits.
Thank you again Tom.

--------------------------------------

Rob Z., Houston, TX

In short: Take Tom's Classes!

This was my 2nd class with Tom and it was more fun than the first! Having been exposed to the basics in the (Straight Limb) class last summer, Tom expanded my knowledge by explaining the finer details & purposes behind the building process and taught me the steps and physical sequence required to build a bow. In the 2nd class (Reflex/Deflex) Tom taught me more of the art and craft of long bow building! This class gave me the insight on how to "read" the stave and determine what potential it has and how to develope certain qualities to create the bow that I want it to become. None of what I learned could have happened without Tom Turgeon! He has the nature of and is a true teacher. He does not profess bow building, he TEACHES bow building! His patience, ability, willingness to listen and honesty are ever present standards whether it be in the classroom, on the shooting range or over the phone. The character and self-set standard of excellence he maintains show in his custom bows and will find their way intoyours!
The price of Tom's classes are worth more than just the opportunity to build a long bow. In addition to making 2 bows with Tom, I have gained confidence in using hand tools and improved my manual dexterity. I have experienced the joy of tapping into the potential of raw materials and transforming them into functional works of art.
I am looking forward to taking Tom's Wilderness Bow Building Class with my dad.
Thanks a LOT Tom.

--------------------------------------

John D., Carrollton, TX

I have enjoyed the class overall & expect to be back for your next class (March 30, 31, April 1, 2012) with 1 on my kids!

--------------------------------------

Chris H., Addison, TX

VERY enjoyable 2-1/2 days! Thank you Tom.

--------------------------------------

Lance H., Lewisville, TX

Wonderful class! Looking forward to enrolling my 9 year old son in your next class in Dallas (March 30, 31, April 1, 2012) so he can make his own bow. Thanks!!

--------------------------------------

James B., Zaualla, TX

Awesome class! I really appreciate it.

--------------------------------------

Brandon S., Olympia, WA (via e-mail)

Hi Tom,
Gene and I really enjoyed taking your class this past weekend. It was a real pleasure to be able to spend a couple of days learning with you. While I was doing a postdoctoral fellowship down in California I taught one semester of Biological Oceanography at UC Santa Cruz. I enjoyed the experience, but it definitely taught me just how hard it was to be an instructor. Ever since I have tried to pay special attention to folks that I consider to be especially effective educators... you are one of the best. You had an amazing ability to keep the excitement and enthusiasm level up in the class, without me feeling pressured at the same time. When I reflect on the fact that you were able to get 8 of us to leave with finished bows in just 2 days, it is truly remarkable!

--------------------------------------

Gene T., Enumclaw, WA

Great (Reflex/Deflex) class Tom. You put a lot of effort into helping all 8 of us be successful.

--------------------------------------

Brandon S., Olympia, WA

Fantastic class! I really enjoyed your teaching style. Be assured you have a brand new customer!!

--------------------------------------

Lou T., Seattle, WA

Great class! And great SPOKESHAVES! Thanks for giving us so much information. You have excellent patience with our questions and inexperience. Looking forward to your Advanced Reflex/Deflex Class next July 27-29, 2012.

---------------------------------------

Bob J., Snohomish, WA

This was a great class! Tom was very free with information about using native woods. I would recommend his classes to anyone!

---------------------------------------

Alain L., Maple Ridge B.C., Canada

Great class! I had a lot of fun building bows with my (16 yr old) son. I have a beautiful long bow to go outside and practice with!

---------------------------------------

Dave L., Seattle, WA

This was a good class! Tom is a good teacher. He takes the time to make sure each student does a good job! Listen to Tom's excellent instruction and you will leave with an outstanding product. I am going to go home and set up a target in my shop....
I can't wait to get the dozen arrows I ordered from you! Keep up the good work. Thanks Tom!

---------------------------------------

Gabriel L., 16, Maple Ridge B.C. Canada

I really enjoyed this course! Although I can not take my bow home with me (due to a stress fracture in the upper limb) I am very pleased that Tom is going to replace it with a stave of my choice- Bamboo backed Yellow Heart with Purple Heart riser!

---------------------------------------

Tom F., Seattle, WA

GREAT class Tom!
I liked to see a demo and then go to work rather than one (step) at a time instruction.

---------------------------------------

John B.,TN

Wonderful lessons and practical course the highlight of my summer!!!

---------------------------------------

Ollie B., TN (age 12)

I loved both the Long Bow making and the dyeing class (Finishing Class)!

---------------------------------------

Sandy B. , TN (age 10)

I can't believe I made my own bow without it breaking!

---------------------------------------

Paul K., Thompson Sta., TN

Exceptional class & instruction, resulting in the bow of my dreams!

Clearly, Dawn needs a raise....(grin)

---------------------------------------

Jeff C., Fayetteville, TN

Great class! I enjoyed building the bow and look forward to bringing my son and daughter to a future class.

I would like to learn a little more about the selection of woods for a bow and gain a better understanding of what each step in the process is supposed to do. Maybe add a small class handout explaining what is going on and some things to watch out for would be a nice addition.

Thanks for your time and patience!

---------------------------------------

Will B., Franklin, TN

The class atmosphere was definitely geared towards learning. Tom was incredibly patient and informative. The class was a hands-on learning experience. I highly recommend the Long Bow Building Class. I am looking forward to next years Advanced Reflex/Deflex Class at Woodcraft in January 2012.

---------------------------------------

Josh K., Nashville, TN

WOW! Thanks a BUNCH!

---------------------------------------

Timothy  F., Boise, Idaho

I just finished building (and finishing) a beautiful and powerful bow. Because I "made" it, it is custom-built for my longer arms and big hands. Tom treated my bow as if he were building it for himself.; lots  of attention to small details (in the tillering process) that really turned my bow into a work of art. I love it! Thanks Tom.

---------------------------------------

Jonah E., Meridian, Idaho (age 12)

My bow looks AWESOME! Tom taught the class so well that I didn't need to ask a single question.

---------------------------------------

Claudio S., Libby, MT

I had a great time in Tom's class. I think it is nice to see how you can make such a nice bow just with simple hand tools. A LOT of fun and I would do it again!

---------------------------------------

Seth V., Libby, MT

I had a lot of fun and would like to take Tom's Advanced Reflex/Deflex Long Bow Class.

---------------------------------------

Levi E., Libby, MT

Very fun and exciting class!

---------------------------------------

Jacob V., Newman Lake, WA

Tom's classes (Long Bow Building & Finishing) were exceptional opportunities to produce a high end custom bow with the guidance of a master bowyer. I can't wait to hunt with my new long bow! I highly recommend Tom's classes to anyone looking to hunt with a tool they made.

---------------------------------------

Neville F., Spokane Valley, WA

This was the first time I had crafted a long bow. The transformation of the stave to the finished product transpired steadily under Tom's careful guidance.

---------------------------------------

J.J. J., Colville, WA

I've never used a bow much less BUILT one! I found the class surprisingly simple and Tom very knowledgeable. Well worth my time and the finished product looks and shoots GREAT! Tom is quite friendly and easy to get along with. Worth every penny of the tuition.

---------------------------------------

Steve J., Orient, OH

This was my second bow making class with Tom and I enjoyed it just as much as the first one. This bow was the Reflex/Deflex design and it is even more powerful than the first bow I built! I'm now the proud owner of two unfinished bows....
When are you coming back to OHIO to teach your Finishing Class, Tom?!
(January 13-15, 2012)

---------------------------------------

Joe D., Powell, OH

It's difficult to express how much I enjoyed Tom's class! I tried to build a hickory bow using a book as my guide.... There's no way ANY book can convey what Tom teaches.  Fabulous experience, great teacher. Well worth the time and money. I want to get out to Boise for my next (Reflex/Deflex) bow building class.
Thanks a lot Tom!

---------------------------------------

Michael W., Fairborn, OH

Having read "The Traditional Bowyer's Bible" volumes, Tom's class helped put the pieces of the puzzle together for me. Tom was an absolute pleasure to learn from. Both my son and I look forward to his next class (Reflex/Deflex Class, January 13-15, 2012) in Ohio. I will definitely be passing the word on to my friends about Tom's classes.

----------------------------------------

Brad B., Columbus, OH

Why would I buy a composite (fiberglass) bow? This bow shoots faster and it was MADE BY ME!
The cost (tuition for Tom's class) was half as expensive as a (fiberglass) recurve. I can not believe how good it feels to shoot my own "labor"!

----------------------------------------

Grover A., Columbus, OH

Tom's Long Bow Building Class was very informative. I have a much greater appreciation and understanding of bows. I really enjoyed the process and will probably build another bow!

----------------------------------------

Michael W., Fairborn, OH (Age 11)

Everything about this (Long Bow Building) class was PERFECT!

----------------------------------------

Jeremy C., Oregonia, OH

GREAT Class!

----------------------------------------

Howard S., Las Vegas, NV

The BEST woodworking class I have ever been in- and I have taken a dozen or so!
Very, very good instruction. Tom takes all the time needed to explain and help each student. He is extremely well prepared and an excellent instructor. Thank you Tom!

----------------------------------------

Bob N., Santa Paula, CA

Tom's Long Bow Building Class is a "must attend" for anyone interested in the LONG BOW!
Building your own bow gives you a great understanding of the physics of archery.
I give Tom and his class 5 stars!

----------------------------------------

Chris G., Fresno, CA

Excellent! One of the best, if not the best class I have ever taken!
Thanks Tom!

----------------------------------------

Denny A., Ventura, CA

Wonderful class. I learned a lot and had FUN too!

----------------------------------------

Andru O., Ventura, CA

Tom, for a first timer, your Long Bow Building and Finishing Classes were set at just the right pace.
I appreciated your effort in keeping everyone moving along and the way you explained your (hand tool) techniques. I am looking forward to taking your Advanced Reflex/Deflex Long Bow Class (Nov. 11, 2011 in Ventura, CA) where I can do the glue up and get into the finer points of tillering the limbs for my draw length. I am hoping to get a friend involved in your next class.
Overall, EXCELLENT CLASS!

----------------------------------------

David L., Northridge, CA

Great course and teacher! It may take me more experience to be able to read the stave for tillering, but now I knowwhat to look for!
It would be nice if you had your article ("Woodcraft Magazine" VOL./NO. 36 AUG/SEPT 10) available for purchase. I'd like to see a bowstring and arrow building DVD in addition to your Long Bow Workshop DVD. My major interest is in the Flemish bowstring which is new to me.

----------------------------------------

Robert M., MSG U.S. Army (Warrior Family Support Center)

Tom’s class helped develop confidence in the attending service members!

He also demonstrated sincere appreciation and interest for us Wounded Warrior soldiers. He was also very confident in his ability to teach the complete bow building process. He willingly assisted all of us when the need arose. I can’t wait for the opportunity to take his Advanced Reflex/Deflex Class.
Thank you again for a great class!

-----------------------------------

Don C., Capt., U.S. Army (Warrior Family Support Center)

Excellent Class! Thank you for donating it to us Wounded Warriors.

-----------------------------------

Victor E., SGT U.S. Army (Warrior Family Support Center)

This class was very good!

Tom was very open and knowledgeable. I only wish I had longer arms to make stringing my bow easier! I will be ready for your Advanced Reflex/Deflex class the next time you are here at the W.F.S.C. in Ft Sam Houston!

I really enjoyed Tom’s class!

I loved the hands on techniques and instruction. Thank you for giving us (Wounded Warriors) your time and effort. I am looking forward to building more bows!

Awesome class!

Tom is amazing and so knowledgeable about bow making. Ladies, get your friends together and sign up! Create a beautiful keepsake.

Bob S., Boerne, TX

Tom's class was a lot of fun and very educational- without being boring.

I have been wanting to build a bow for YEARS but hadn't made the first steps past buying books. Taking this class was a great leap forward! Thanks!

-----------------------------------

Don J., San Antonio, TX

Good job- only positive thoughts from my point of view!

In our class we had plenty of time to discuss not only bow building techniques but also arrow and bow building materials and variations. Thank you!

-----------------------------------

Fred M., San Antonio, TX

Great course!

It is just what I have been looking for. I have had custom bows built for me but have always wanted to build one for myself. Tom’s class was all about teaching his students how to build their own bows. The knowledge is there to be had! I believe you could take the course a dozen times and get new information every time. Quite enjoyable.

Farley O’., San Antonio, TX

This was my 3rd time attending Tom’s classes!
(1 Traditional, 2 Advanced Reflex/Deflex) I had a blast in each one.

I was able to reconfirm past lessons learned and learn new lessons in each class. I have not taken other Woodcraft classes before taking Tom’s classes. I have learned a lot about proper hand tool use and techniques that can be used in my other woodworking projects. Thank you Tom for all of the great information!

Bob S., Boerne, TX

Very educational without being boring. I have been wanting to build a bow for YEARS but hadn't made the first steps after buying books. Taking this class was a great leap forward! Thanks!

My son Edison 13, and I attended Tom's Long Bow Building & Finishing classes together. This was a great bonding experience for us. Not only did we leave more united, we left with beautiful, functional long bows -works of art- that we will enjoy shooting together for years to come.
Tom is truly a master of his craft. His classes were taught in a logical and sequential manner. He takes the time to thoroughly answer everyone's questions. I recommend his classes to anyone desiring to learn about archery!

Alan I., Santa Barbara, CA

The Bow Building & Bow Finishing classes were great.
Tom is very personable, easy to talk with and informative. I appreciated the pace of the class and that we spent some time shooting our bows. I am looking forward to taking his Advanced Class and learning to build a reflex/deflex bow!

Dave L., Ventura, CA
Awesome class Tom!!
I can't wait to take your Advanced Reflex/Deflex Long Bow Building Class in 2014.

-----------------------------------

Nick L., Ventura, CA
Awesome experience! Tom kept us engaged during the down times with stories and fun facts. He is as good a teacheras he is an instructor. I am looking forward to his Advanced Reflex/Deflex Long Bow Building Class in 2014.

-----------------------------------

Rob G., Saugus, CA
I have been wanting to take Tom's classes (Bow Building & Finishing) since they were first offered- years ago- in Ventura. I will be taking his Advanced Reflex/Deflex Long Bow Building Class and will be bringing my two sons (to take his Traditional Long Bow Class) in 2014!

-----------------------------------

Mick K., Northridge, CA
Excellent instruction- both technique and theory of long bow construction. Thank you Tom.

-----------------------------------

Daniel P., Yoncalla, OR
The classes (Bow Building & Finishing) were fun and informative. I was really surprised to see how fast the bows took shape. I can't wait to take more of your classes in the future. Thank you again for your time and patience!

Seth H., Hudson, WI (15 yrs old)

These (Long Bow Building & Finishing Classes) were great classes and had a good balance. I learned very much and enjoyed all the instruction. I'd love to do it again!

-----------------------------------

Bob M., Maple Grove, MN
Great, fun class!
Tom has a wealth of bow building knowledge, a passion for his craft and for the opportunity to teach it. It is very apparent that his main focus is ensuring you build a beautiful, functional bow.

-----------------------------------

John J., Watertown, SD
Very great and exciting class! We were able to tiller our staves into BOWS in a relatively short period. I recommend Tom's classes to anyone with an interest in archery. Don't change a thing. Thanks Tom!

-----------------------------------

Bill C., Aredale, IA

I learned how to build a bow better and quicker than reading and applying the information found in any bow building book. Fantastic class with "real world" bow building information. Fun and interesting!

-----------------------------------

Chris L., Minneapolis, MN
The (Bow building & Finishing) classes were even better than I had expected! The pace was about right resulting in a fully functional bow and time enough to receive instruction on how to properly shoot it!

-----------------------------------

Mike A., Champaign, IL
Loved It! Loved it! Loved it! Clear concise instruction and excellent one-on-one instruction.
Tom is very knowledgeable, friendly and easy to communicate with. He taught us much more about bows and arrows - far beyond just making them. Great guy, good attitude and works well with people.

-----------------------------------

Dan N., Moweaque, IL
I enjoyed the challenge of building my own traditional bow in Tom's class. Once proficient enough I plan to hunt with it. I look forward to building more bows.

-----------------------------------

Ian W-G., Champaign, IL

Everything was explained very clearly. The instructor, Tom,  showed enthusiasm and had good answers to my strange questions! Very good experience!

-----------------------------------

John F., Matteson, IL
What can I say, the class (Traditional Long Bow) was great! Thanks for your patience and attention. I will see you at your next class in Illinois. (March, 2014)

-----------------------------------

Kate D., Champaign, IL
After my father took Tom's class he raved so much about it that I had to take it too! I was not disappointed. Tom Turgeon is an excellent instructor who knows his craft. He was also patient with me, a first time archer, as his student.

-----------------------------------

Gregory P., Champaign, IL
This was a great class! I'd take it again, but would rather get my friends into it before I give it another try. I'll recommend it to others as well as anyone who wants to try something different.

-----------------------------------

Mitri V., Champaign, IL

I've taken Tom's class twice now. All of my woodworking experience this year has been bow making! Making, finishing and shooting a bow gives you a much more intimate relationship to the wood. When I shoot my bows at a local archery range, other archers notice how quiet and hard hitting my bow is.

-----------------------------------

Kevin W., Mahomet, IL
Just as enjoyable as my first (Traditional)Class with Tom. Another totally awesome experience of custom made long bow building.

-----------------------------------

Michael H., Champaign, IL
Good fun and beautiful results! It's all good.

"I've bow hunted all my life and always wanted to make my own bow.
When I saw Tom's Long Bow Building Class being offered at Woodcraft, I immediately signed up and wasn't disappointed.  Tom is an excellent teacher, archer and craftsman. The final product far exceeded my expectations.  From the rough cut stave to the finished product, Tom walked me through every step.  The bow I built is extremely functional and after Tom's Finishing Class, it ended up being a beautiful piece of art as well!"

Great class Tom! After trying to build 3 bows on my own and having 2 break, you really got me turned around and headed in the right direction! I wish I could have made your Finishing Class but I had a prior commitment. Looking forward to your Advanced (Reflex/Deflex) Class this summer! (Seattle, July 8-10, 2011)

----------------------------------------

Max U., Bellevue, WA

Great class! Would like to take your Advanced Reflex/Deflex Class (Seattle, June 8-10, 2011) to see your jig setup and gluing process.

----------------------------------------

Keith U., Honaunau, HI

If time had permitted, I would like to have had you spend more time on the lamination and roughing out process of our staves.

----------------------------------------

Gene T., Enumclaw, WA

Really great course! Lots of individual attention (in a full class!). Looking forward to taking your Reflex/Deflex Class

Thank you!

Having never even held a bow I had no idea what to expect from the class. Tom is an excellent Instructor.
I received more info than I thought I would get and I also wound up with an excellent bow.

I AM HOOKED! I plan to build more bows using different woods.

---------------------------------------------

Swayne W., Idaho City, ID

Great Arrowsmithing Class! I learned more than expected.

----------------------------------------------

Mark H., Colburn, Idaho

Both classes (Long Bow Building and Finishing) and the quality of my bow exceeded my expectations!  Making my own long bow to hunt with has been a dream come true. Tom made the procedure fun and logical.  The process was a good balance between work and reward! Also, my bow was done in less time than I figured.  I'm looking forward to taking Tom's Advanced/Reflex Long Bow Class in April (27, 28 or 29, 30) and to learn how to laminate staves.

A thought:
The Finishing Class should be included or at a minimum students should be made more aware of it's importance....they will want BOTH classes!!!

-----------------------------------------------

Michael F., Cheney, WA

I only have compliments.... The Long Bow Building and Finishing Classes were GREAT!  Shooting my bow gave me great satisfaction- seeing something I made shoot so far (200 yards) and accurately (within feet of each other!).

-----------------------------------------------

Bill M., Spokane, WA

Had a great time. We all made great bows!

-----------------------------------------------

Steve S., Spokane Valley, WA

Great class, very informative!

-----------------------------------------------

Wayman K., Saginaw, TX (84 years young)

I got my first woodworking tool when I was just 4 years old a POCKET KNIFE!
I've been involved with woodworking ever since. I had so much fun building my
very first Long Bow with your kit that I need 8 more for my kids and grandkids.
By the way I will be 81 in April! Thank you Tom for this new hobby.

-----------------------------------------------

Adam O., Post Falls, ID

Fun class! Tom was a lot of fun to joke around with and clearly very
knowledgeable about all things bow related. Thanks!

Raymond J. S., Columbus, OH

The best woodworking class I have ever taken!

Barth F., Columbus, OH
Tom-
You most certainly must be the top authority on bow making in the country!

Beyond sharing your expertise you took the time to show a genuine interest
in everyone enrolled in our class, have a great sense of humor and
are a kind and sincere person!

I greatly appreciate your talents as a professional and your good qualities
as a person. Your skills as a Bowyer are as great as your teaching abilities.
Thanks for all that you gave to the entire class- I think you know how much
we (all 10 of us) enjoyed it!
Your Long Bow Building Class was an exhilarating experience and a great
introduction to a craft that is mostly a lost art.
Your passion for long bow building is contagious and EVERYONE in our class
had what I am sure was a very memorable experience.
To those considering your classes: Worth every penny of the tuition!
I'll recommend your classes to many friends.

----------------------------------------

Steve J. Orient, OH

An absolute blast! I would do it again in a heartbeat. I plan on making one
(a bamboo backed long bow) for my wife soon. This is the first class I have
taken at a Woodcraft and I look at the class schedule every month in their flier.
Tom is not only very experienced in bow building, but a whole lot of fun
to be around.
(I'll buy dinner at my favorite steak place the next time he is in Ohio!)

-------------------------------------------

Dustin F., Chillicothe, OH

The class was everything I expected.... and MORE. Tom explained all the steps thoroughly.
The class was enjoyable and I will recommend it to anyone.
I am very interested in taking other classes (Finishing, Reflex Long Bow and Stave Building)
from Tom in the future.

-----------------------------------------------

Ron V., Dayton, OH

Tom,

Excellent class! I will recommend your classes to friends in Indiana, Ohio and Virginia!
I can see how your class would make a good team building offsite.

------------------------------------------------

Terry S., Delaware, OH

Very fun and exciting class!

-------------------------------------------------

Tyler H., Lancaster, OH

Once again, I was very impressed with the class. After taking the straight limb bow class and learning
all the basics, I was able to tell Tom what I wanted out of my reflex/deflex bow. I got EXACTLY that! Tom
has made bow building painless and extremely enjoyable for me. Thanks again.

----------------------------------------------------

Tyler B. W., Columbus, OH

Tom, Thanks again! I really enjoyed the Reflex Bow Building Class (my second class with you).
It was a challenge, but with your great instruction and knowledge it was very easy to follow the steps
to building the bow.

-----------------------------------------------------

Dea B., Germanville, OH

Tom is a good teacher and I had a lot of fun crafting a bow
that I am proud of.

------------------------------------------------------

Barth F., Columbus, OH

Tom is a natural born teacher! Everything he talks about is totally captivating-
Be it hunting, bow building or life in general. It was a pleasure to get to know
him. I look forward to taking more of his classes, (Finishing, Reflex Long Bow
and Stave Building), and bringing along lots of my friends!
To the Columbus, Ohio Woodcraft: This was my second visit to your store and my
first class. "Thank You" for bringing Tom into your store!

-----------------------------------------

Johannes W., Columbus, OH/Germany

I really enjoyed your class!
------------------------------------------------------

Kyle W., Nampa, ID

The class was good. I learned what I needed to. I didn't have to ask many questions,
but when I did they were all answered. I learned a lot about working wood, hand tool use
and finishing techniques.
I cannot think of any negatives about this class!

--------------------------------------------------------

Phil R., Lebanon, TN

Outstanding Class! I will be taking more classes in the future.
I can not wait to go hunting with my new bow.
I will be recommending your class to my friends. Thanks,Tom!

----------------------------------------------------------

Paul K., Nashville, TN

Excellent Bow Building Class, professionally taught.
Tom's "Show-then-do" approach results in understanding concepts
& achieving consistent results.
His Finishing Class was exceptional.
I've always wanted one (finishing) system that utilized compatible components.
Now, I have it!
Thank you, Tom!

Both classes (Long Bow Building and Finishing) were GREAT!
